DataFileHost wasn't working properly, possibly hi-jacked (it certainly looked different to previous visits) and T-S offered the Zippy link for me to try. It worked fine for me, but then I have several layers of anti-malware protection. DataFileHost link seems to work now, but it wasn't working last night, delivering zero byte files. That's the only reason T-S offered the alternate link.
if nothing else, most bans are I think a one day or one week cool off kind of thing. Time will tell, and I am sure T-S will too.
When I first got here, I got nailed a few times. Had no clue how to fix it. First day with Win10, Firewall shut off, Defender disabled. A few of those links got me good. Then Edge got destroyed a few times, had to un and re. No problem for me, but I can understand some people getting angry. Vivaldi has been performing well. Havent needed something bad enough to use jdownloader. What are you using?
Thanks, I guess we will plan to cover him for a week. If he gets out for good behavior, it will be a nice surprise. He is the backbone of this thread.
BTW, here is the error code we are getting from DRMInit: msdn. microsoft. com /en-us/library/windows/desktop/dd798067(v=vs.85).aspx NS_E_DRM_INVALID_LICENSE_REQUEST 0xC00D271CL The media file is corrupted. Contact the content provider to get a new file.
I have ad-blocking and Avast Online Security and Malwarebytes, all ready to pounce on anything nasty.
I don't know, but I think if somebody does know about those types of things, it wouldn't be a waste of time to confirm everything is working in that section. The next step is Setup Tuners, and that one dont work, so I can only blame the previous step.
First I want to say thank you to all those that must have put many hours into reviving WMC in W10. I put off the W10 free upgrade because I didn't want to give up WMC in my 7 ultimate machine. When I read enough to see that this might work, I took the plunge. Like many, I couldn't get v12 to work. I read hundreds of pages of this thread and tried all the troubleshooting steps. They all 'seemed' to work but ended in failure. I did get a complete install with no errors but couldn't get WMC to start. I finally resorted to installing v9. v9 did install and I was able to run the WMC custom setup successfully. But this is where it gets strange - and I am stumped. I hope my situation is amusing and informative for others. Side note, if you can't get 12 to work. Give up and use a lower version. Also, my system is x86 - so it would be helpful if more of the 32 bit links were easier to find. I have no errors in WMC. TV tuner card is Pinnacle PCTV 800i. Tuner is working. Program guide set up and downloaded info just fine. Signal strength is good. I use OTA and no cable/satellite card. However, I can not play live TV or play recorded TV in WMC. PlayReady would not update in the WMC setup. But I installed it manually. I had to delete the mspr.hds file from programdata in order to successfully "update" playready. But WMC still wouldn't play video. I don't think it is a codec or tuner problem so I'm stumped as to what comes next. I can click "record" in the guide and then immediately go to my user/public/recorded TV folder and play the .wtv recording (live stream) with the windows media player. So the signal, tuner, codecs, etc are all working. I just can't get it to play in WMC. Is playready the problem? Any other ideas? Thanks in advance.
I figured it has something to do with Playready 3.0 being included now for HEVC/4K DRM support, and this not being backwards compatible with previous versions because of the new namespace. I tried installing Playready 1.3. Now I get a new error code: [h=1]nserror.h 0xC00D271D[/h][h=2]#define NS_E_DRM_UNABLE_TO_INITIALIZE[/h][h=3]A problem has occurred in the Digital Rights Management component. Please clarify this, how are you obtaining the error code and log? I have not had issues installing Playready 1.3 on 14393, and WMDRM and Playready at least as of 10586 were parallel systems, with WMDRM being substantially older than Playready (WMDRM was an XP-era protection; Playready was introduced shortly after Vista MCE and began to be used for encrypted storage of recorded programs in Windows 7 WMC). Also, Playready does not have to be installed on 10586 to detect OCUR tuners. Rather, after starting the LiveTV setup, after specifying the region, and zip code, WMC will ask to install PlayReady as part of the WMC tuner setup process.
14393 is different. In 10586 C:\Windows|Assembly is full of dll's in 14393 C:\Windows\Assembly is full of folders
The error code I got from the registry after running ehprivjob /DRMInit and ehprivjob /OCURDiscovery again. I wish I knew where it logged stuff.... what I pasted there is a definition of that error code from the registry found in a google search.
