the 650 is not the same as the DCT if you actually look at this one www ebay com/itm/ATI-TV-Wonder-DCT-Internal-Digital-Cable-Tuner-Card-/331931353899?hash=item4d48a6832b9joAAOSwuhhXU9Gp[/url] you can see the pci-e is actually just a dummy slot, and it has a USB header cable, its the exact same as that one, just in an external case. Is it a gaurentee that the HDHR-3CC works? i could def pick one of those up, and if coax doesnt need to be ran to the computer, thats a win win.
ive always just seen it called the tv wonder digital card turner, i actually have 3 of them, they work great(when not on W10), and are def more then just Clear-QAM, i can get my whole tv package, premium channels and all, minus the on demand.
ordered, will be here tomorrow. hopefully works as easy as you say lol. its a shame these ATI units have worked great for years. way to go microsoft -_-
It's a shame ATI/AMD didn't continue the All-inWonder series. The speed my old Athlon X2 transcoded DVDs accelerated by the Radeon 9700 All in Wonder in 2005 was close to QuickSync on Haswell.
The list of good things discontinued for a reason or another is endless BeOS able to capture the analog TV on disc on a 486DX class machine, something which is still hard today on windows w/o an HW encding tw card. The Aureal Vortex audio cards, capable to provide a credible surround with two speakers only, bought and killed by Creative which was near to loose a trial with them The incredible ULI chipset, the only chipset capable of handling both AGP and PCI-E cards at the same time, the (cheap) Asrock 939 dual based on it was released 2003 and is still actual today thanks to its incredible capability of evolve over time. ULI was bought and killed by Nvidia, same as above. ShowShifter, the mother of all mediacenters, killed by MS that cloned it, releasing the WMC and by nvidia wich suddendly changed the prices of the codecs ShowShifrer was using One can talk for a week of such things...
One of my 3 PC TV tuner is a ATI 650 PCI. It works like the others except that I am not able to catch 17.1 (an ex UHF channel).
Now, if our problem with cablecards is the DRM...the bastard child of Microsoft.... Maybe a 3rd party program that was solid on Windows 7 / 8 days, that REQUIRED DRM to play back content... If you were to install a program that NEEDED DRM to be used, it might attempt to install/update components to get it working...and bring the full DRM back to Windows 10 and allow us to use cablecards again... Zune was killed a long time ago now so that is out....Tried it anyway, no go...
