One more thing... If I understand correctly the CC protected channels aren't playable with LAV codecs. Correct? If so the stock mpeg2 decoder itself is part of the protected chain Now, we know that the codec from 10586 works on 14393 (at least on my machine the WMC crashes using the stock one). Something I noticed is that the msmpeg2vdec.dll from 14393 is definitely smaller than the older counterpart. Hence my idea: could be that some drm related code was removed from it. So can you try to temporarily do the opposite of what I'm doing, replacing temporarily the dll on a working 10586 with the one taken from 14393? If my guess is correct you should be still able to see the free channels but not the protected ones, just like with LAV codecs. If all the above is correct, we have identified at least one ring of the chain, not a lot, but a step forward.
I know there is a discussion going on why are people even bothering with WMC. I have been working with CC since Vista with a ATI CC tuner. The switched over to W7 until the power cable port solder on the pcb decided to break on the ATI tuner and I never fixed it. Then I decided to put in a Ceton infinity 4 card that I had a spare of that is still running in my front room w7 box. Basically I don't have a issue working with a linux box as I have all my cable channels. Just for the fact I dont want to pay comshaft anymore money a month. Basically no box what so ever. But I do appreciate all the hard work everyone is trying to keep this software running in 10. So keep truckin!
does anyone have an issue with media center restarting playback when switched to and from fullscreen?
EDIT When I select the 440 channels in Available Channels, only 323 appear in Selected Channels...see the pic I just added Should have an answer for you in >2 hours Re: copy msmpeg2vdec.dll from 14393 to 10586
I mean in 10586, in a fully working system. Do the LAV codecs alone allows to play a protected content? (Just install them and rename the msmpeg2vdec.dll to be sure) then copy the dll from a 14393 and try if the channels are playable with it (uninstal the LAV codecs to be sure the system is trying to use the ms codecs).
That is my understanding -- that only approved Media Foundation codecs are supported. There may be some other approved codecs for acceleration by NVidia or ATI, but definitely not any open source ones.
it works without any software or additional hardware, i just have to sometimes power cycle the display or unplug/plugin the cable again. its just finicky.
But, you include a "green" skin with your 8.7+ download ? LOL (sorry I had to ) Yea, wondering on this one. It seems that the LACK of DRM on Windows 10 is causing the problem with cablecards on 1607. If there is a way to eject it and get the titbits working it could help with the issue. The only problem is, it is protected content, there is a secure path, I don't think just dropping a few files in a few folders and registering DLLs is going to work here. I like the idea but, something tells me this is going to behind tricky... Check your activation. Or your in the preview program and your in one of the previews...
That's just a color change not a real skin. Making a WMC skin for Kody would require a lot of time, test, xml adjustments and so on...
if i play a video in media center and then switch to fullscreen, playback restarts from the beginning.
Played around with codecs for the majority of this morning, and it seems to be some processing issue with WMC after the anniversary update. I am wondering if the changes to Win10 codec/decoder (that others were recently talking about) are also related. I will spend some time later looking into it.
I believe version V6 fixed these issues with the dvd playback software install. Since then no need for LAV codecs.
i think its more of a handshake issue as i need to get off my lazy rear and buy a new cable rather then having it connected with 2 adapters. (micro hdmi-hdmi, hdmi cable, then hdmi to dvi) since ive unpluged and pluged it all back in, its not given me the issue, give it a few days when my cats get behind my pc again itll probably come back lol.
Is anyone else having a lip synch problem after the windows 10 anniversary update? I'm finding that the audio goes out of synch after about 25 minutes on recorded TV programs. I also seem to be having a problem with WMC holding onto to the monitor setup. I have noticed that it can hop between 1080p 50hz and 1080p 59hz. I suspect this might be the problem with the audio synch, but the computer refresh rate doesn't change, so it must be WMC. I did a complete uninstall and reinstall after the Win10 update, cleared out the ehome directory. Could it be a codec problem? Using the usual, not installed any others. It's fine if I just stop the playback (not pause) and then resume, but goes off again at 25 minutes.
I am currently in the Insider Preview Fast Track, Windows is Activated, but this is a time-limited pre-release version for evaluation and feedback. I have a huge windows.old folder created when this preview was installed, for roll-back purposes. Probably going to roll back after a day or so of checking what still works and what doesn't.
