Try this....right click testrights and run as admin. dont close any windows. paste this into the 2nd window that testrights opens for you. Code: "C:\WMC-V8.1.1\InstallerBLUE.cmd" Hit enter
I had tried that with no results. it seems that the problem I'm having with the "find" error comes from the whoami command. If I rem that line and the ones following it about running from the installerblue.cmd the rest of the batch file runs. But with errors about attribs (i don't remember for sure right now what they said.) and services already exist... I'm going to try 8.7 now and see what goes.
Ran the v8.7 and it flashed thru the cmd windows in the blink of an eye. Did a reboot and setting up my tuner now. After the set-up is done, I take it that I can run the "8.7-8.8-QuickFix.reg" and I should be good?
If it flashed, and did nothing clearly it didn't run Anyway you can't just do a bunch of install test w/o uninstalling (and rebooting) in between. You will end to unexpected behaviors this way.
I mean it loaded so quick that I didn't have a chance to even read anything in the window. I have a "very" fast computer. It installed and I've scanned my turner. I've still got the problem with it only finding 51 of the 100 or so channels I have. And I don't know why that is, but the problem came up after WOW (wide open west) resent the channel line-up a couple months ago. I don't know what they did, but since then, on both my ATI 650 and my HomeRun tuners I only can find 51 channels. And a few of those only show a blank window.

Good afternoon, I installed Windows 10 from a clean setup today, WMC is running fine on the machine, but i cannot get the extenders to work (my childrens xbox 360's for watching movies in bed) i understand i need tow additional files Mcx2Prov.zip NTRights.zip Could someone point me in the right direction please? the original links seem to be dead. Thanks. Karl
Did WOW switch to Mpeg4 on some of the channels? Run WMC debug....411 info....and check the 9th screen to the right.
If some of your channels have switched to HD and your tuner only supports SD then you're bound to lose some from the total. 411 info - While you watch live TV press 4-1-1-Info (Like changing the channel number to 411 then press info). You'll get a menu with many pages where you can see information related to the tuners actvities. If you don't have a remote, you can do the same with the keyboard using CTRL-D instead of the Info button.
I'm not sure what they did. My TVs still pick up all channels. My HomeRun tuner picks up all channels (with the congif and NextPVR). And instatv finds them on the ATI 650. I know the ATI is able to handle HD Because WOW doesn't use any boxes for the basic channels Only pay premium channels. And I'm still pulling in some of the HD local channels with it. WMC is the only software that doesn't get all the channels available to me.
Thanks for the suggestions T-S. I accept that I might be mixing 1607 issues with WMC package issues. I've possibly fixed one of my two machines by changing BIOS settings relating to render units, following advice from jaydes44b. I've had the same issue as him, and it appears to manifest itself only after the machine has been in sleep mode. The other machine doesn't have such detailed BIOS settings so I've changed msmpegvdec.dll from 14393 to 10547 - that's the earliest version I can find on any of my old builds. Does it need to be 10586? In return, what tuner stick do you have? I've got a couple with IR receivers and I'd be happy to see if they work, if that will help you. I don't normally need to use their IR as I've got a "proper" MCE remote and IR unit and touch wood, that's been fine through all my years of Media Center! Thanks.
Ok..I tuned in one of the channels that WMC found but only gives a blank screen: The one of the local HD channels that was working said it was mpeg2
That isn't an universal rule. After all a digital tuner is just something that has just to grab the RF signal and extract the raw stream, then is the OS that decodes it. I have an ancient Thwinhan tuner (bought more than 10 years ago) which is able to provide the HD TV w/o any problem. It's resting in a tray just because it's a PCI device and my actual server has PCI-E only slots Obviously the mileage may vary depending on how the drivers where written, they may block an unknown stream, or may be unable to manage the higher bitrate, or whatever...
Well...The metro dvd player seems to have a problem. But I just played a dvd with WMC just fine. ALSO.....I have manually added a couple channels that didn't scan in thru the normal set-up. I'm wondering if I should start the set up again with all my tuners (not just the ATI) and manually add the missing channels. Even when I ran the set-up with the HomeRun tuners it only found the 51 channels I've gotten. If I could get 3 tuners fully working again in WMC I'd be a happy camper.
I think that depends on your type of HD broadcast too. In the UK all HD broadcasts are 1080 and mpeg4 encoded. There are no 720p HD mpeg2 channels here. I know that elsewhere there is a mix.
Afaik the nominal resolution is 1080/h264 here as well, but there are big variations in the encoding quality/bitrate, and the audio track dolby/no dolby and so on, depending if we speak about main nationwide channels or second tier/local ones.
