Just to clarify some often misused terms, applicable to USA cablecard lingo.

ClearQAM = non encrypted broadcast. You can hook the incoming cable to the TV without a cable box and receive all subscribed channels.
QAM (encrypted) = incoming signal requires a cable box to decrypt all channels (except locals in most areas)
DRM = copy protected content channels. (copy once, copy never flags)

Comcast, the largest cable provider in the US, generally provides everything other than Premium Channels (HBO, STARZ, Cinamx, etc) in QAM (encrypted), the Premiums are DRM Protected content.

With the HDHR DVR project referenced, a Comcast cable user can CURRENTLY record, playback & view live TV on everything but the DRM protected channels. They are still working on the DRM stuff for protected content.

That's why I like WOW (wide open west), they send all but the premium (hbo,starz,cinamx...) as clearqam. I gave up on the premium channel a long time ago when I saw I was paying for movies that I watched on regular broadcast back in the 70's. All the TV/tuners I have in the house, none of them have a box hooked up, just a cable tied to them. Everytime comcast calls me they say WOW will make me use a box sooner or later. I just say. "till then I'm happy not using one." If more people knew/understood what a pc tuner or HomeRun tuners allowed them to do we wouldn't be having this trouble now. MS wouldn't have messed with WMC. I enjoy watching movies or live tv anywhere I want for no extra charge. And with the older version of instatv (that I never updated) I can even watch in my car for just the data cost. I've always based my PCs around high end graphics, TV, video editing, and cad.

My current main desktop is a 5830k i7 with 32gig of ram a 256gig, M.2 941 ssd os drive, 1tb 850 pro app/data drive, 7tb of ext (my book) drives. Plus throw in 4 different photo quality printers of up to 19"x 13" a couple webcams and firewire for digital camcorders, 2 32" HD monitors, and a full HD projector that can throw an image the size of a house. I even have a 3D camera and 60" 3D tv.

I need WMC. You can't believe how happy I am to get it back. I have a life other than this, but things like a nice evening, I enjoy a good movie under the stars.

Where do I find V8.7+ since V12 is no longer working with the Anniversary update.

Thanks in advance. You can tell I'm a novice so please be gentle. I've search, looked at tons of post for T-S and still can't find it.

Go to post 6747, click on the WMC V8.8.1 by T-S, that will take you to the latest version.

I'm not sure where V8.7 is stored.

Even you missed my signature? o_O

I removed the links to older versions to avoid confusion, people who needs them for whatever reason have just to ask.

Nope, I was sending him to your signature. Post 6747 was the closest signature available, at the time I replied.

Feel like an idiot. o_O Never realized there was a link at the bottom of your posts. I will say being colored blind, the link doesn't stand out, my wife pointed me to it since I knew I must be missing something.

Thanks in advance. I'm sure I will be good from this point forward. :worthy::worthy:

You're correct. No matter what I try WMC v8.8.1 on Win10 14393 will not see my HDHomeRun Prime. I guess I will have to back out the update and stick with the older version of Windows 10. On my main HTPC, I've left it on Windows 7 for this reason.

If there is a fix, please let us know. Thanks.

Do you have a Tuning Adapter? STA-1520 or a Motorola????

I don't see why SDV would matter for the DVBLink workaround. The URLs to stream the individual channels should work even without them being in the channel map.

So Crash you got me to post on here :)

You mentioned that WMC should now work with cablecards? You mentioned TA which seems to be tuning adapter - I use a HDR so looks like I should be safe there.

It works now with T-S's latest version of the install?

Don't understand what you are asking. I have a HDHomeRun Prime with a Cablecard (I think it is a Motorola Brand of Cablecard from COMCAST/XFINITY).

It is OK. I'm in the process of rolling back the upgrade on my Windows 10 desktop. I will stay with the old version. I have long ago stopped autoupdates from occurring so I won't be pushed into Windows 10 Anniversary Addition.

    Thanks for trying.
