Hey T-S, I really don't want to waste anyone's time, I've used your installer to get WMC working on my Mother-In-Law's Win10 PC after the anniversary update removed the WMC v12 I had put on there. They are using an OTA HD antenna with a Digital TV tuner and everything looks great. LiveTV is coming in perfectly. Unfortunately PlayReady failed to update components after install and the guide won't download. Are these known issues? Sorry if I'm being stupid, I've been reading through the thread where I found the installer but felt I perhaps should just reply since I haven't seen the problem anywhere else. Thanks for your time and your work
Seems these are common issues for people in US (since the beginning), and have little to do with the installer used. Th playready can be installed manually, for the guide the quickest workaround is to restore the settings backupped using the backup/restore script included. Other known workarounds are included in the readme/workaround file.
If PlayReady or DCA wont update in WMC, Download and install externally into Win10. Both can be downloaded from my signature.
I finally got caught up. I have installed on the T3400 Win10 Pro N 1607 14393 In the process of installing on the T7500 Win10 LTSB N 1511 10586 I was unable to find LTSB N 1607 14393 Ideally I would prefer to have LTSB on both...any hints?
Did you read the updated instructions? Not needed 1/4 of this forum is made of LTSB links these days, unless you're really blind is hard to skip them. Anyway a report from PRO N would be nice, so if you test it not a bad thing for sure.
Ok, does anyone have a direct link to a Windows 10 14393 N iso ? Maybe I will create a quick VM at work (if I get time) and export it there. Does this matter what machine it comes from ? So I can do it on a completely different machine in a VM then export it to another machine ? Setting up a VM is easy, even if it's not activated this should work.
Does Regular Windows 10 Pro (non-N) work with this process or do you need the N version? I have the non-N version and I'd prefer not to reinstall if I don't need to.
Ah, my mistake, thought you could only download Home and Pro standard ed via that tool. I guess I was wrong. Thanks
I didn't test on non N versions But very likely dism will mess with the files already present. Anyway the packages that PRO has more than N can be uninstalled using dism or, even better, using install_wim_tweak.exe. All you need is to diff the list of the packages, then uninstall them, then follow the instructions above. Sure I can do that, like I can share the premade "meal", but frankly I don't want. I spent more than a week to figure out how to do that and to put my findings together in simple instructions (to be clear something I don't need as my WMC works like a charm, as is), and I have yet to see more than one feedback. Hence you, American guys, can do two things, either #1 cooperate actively. #2 consider to pm me for a small donation. (Or both of them) Until then I'll limit myself to suggestions, but I'm not going to build an one click installer, to paste direct links availble three thread south, and other kinds of spooning.
Hi T-S, I appreciate your response above and definitely all of the work that you've put in to get this working. I'll assume that the rest of the response is directed at someone else... I just asked what versions are necessary, as I didn't want to attempt the install without knowing what I was getting myself into. I'll plan to try the upgrade/install sometime this weekend and will respond with my results. Thanks again sgniwder
install win pro N let it d/l lots of update rebooted and installed Windows-MediaFeaturePack-OOB-Package_x64.msu and KB3099229_x64.msu rebooted export reg made all changes and used testright to inport only way it would work rebooted and tried the file you furnished movies & tv or media player will play it plus wmc flash a message saying are you mad (you meaning me)
Correct: I specified given the ambiguity of "you" in English, just a general message... It's not time to upgrade, it's time to try that on a parallel installation on a native VHD or on a separate partition, and to check if that is enough to fix the CC support on WMC, which is the final goal for most of you. You're welcome!
Seems obvious that this is something you shouldn't do, test it with windows as is, then, eventually do the upgrade after the mod is applied. Additional packages may complicate process. The video file does not work here either, probably because codecs problems or whatever, (it does not play on 10240 and 10586 as well) anyway the audio ones from the same website will play nicely, so I assume that the DRM thing works as it should for both WMP and WMC.
HELP !!!!! Crap, I missed this and 2nd reboot, now I cant logon to my Windows 10 machine. Is there a way to manually put the files in or do I have no choice but, to NUKE my Win 10 install (this is a big deal)? I dual boot the machine, so I am on Windows 7 right now... I can drop files in if I needed to... Anyway, first tests, so far after doing it, DRM files would not play, Giving a Missing files error... Tried the file in WMP and got a rights problem.
