It takes from 15 minutes to 1 hr or 2 depending on how much sw you have installed, ad if you are on SSD or old HDD, and it requires no interaction after the few initial questions. Just do it before sleeping or before doing something else. What things you have to reinstall? It's called in place upgrade for a reason. The only thing you have to reinstall is WMC, depending on how you installed it. And it takes 5 seconds.
One step per day? Don't post confusing messages, you have to replace the colored strings not 13493 nor 10586, assuming you got it right and you shortened them here, other people can take what you wrote literally
Looks like I did screw it up. BIG difference between what I did, and what you wrote. The color coded string is there for a reason, I was not paying attention to that detail. I'll have to re-do Step #4. Good thing you caught it before I imported. BTW, In-between what steps would you suggest WMCv8.8.1 be installed?
I rolled back the anniversary update and have been successfully running v. 8.8.1 until tonight. Now I'm getting a System Files Modified error on all the protected channels. Once that error comes up I have to restart WMC to see the unprotected channels. I uninstalled and reinstalled 8.8.1 but getting the same error. I'm using the SD HDHR tuner w/cablecard.
Yeah, that happened back in the day with v8 and seems to be the case with v8.*. Go with v12 it doesn't have that problem for me. Too bad since T-S's builds are a lot easier to install.
In 10586... 1) With the HDHR-3CC, In 10586, when you open WMP Library, The ON button for the channels, is in the RecordedTV folder. When you click on the Icons in the RecordedTV folder, Live TV plays audio and video. 2) WMP plays TC_423kbps_350kbpsVideo_64kbpsAudio_30fps.wmv audio and video 3) WMC plays TC_423kbps_350kbpsVideo_64kbpsAudio_30fps.wmv audio and video I thought this might be important stage to troubleshoot prior to moving on to WMC. This is why I stopped, to give us a chance to answer the questions you asked in prior posts, and maybe test msmpeg2vdec.dll and LAV. If you think this is not important, I will just proceed with the WMC install.
The mspeg codec is installed by the MFP Set a restore point and proceed, important or not it's matter of 5 minutes. Don't forget to copy and register the msdri.dll mentioned earlier.
Installed HDHomeRun Software. WMC does not appear in the BDA Section, I suppose WMC needs to be installed prior to HDHomeRun. Installed Lav 0.67, then tested WMP Library....Live non-DRM works...audio=yes video=yes Uninstalled HDHomeRun Install WMCv8.8.1 Install HDHomeRun. WMC is in the BDA section, and WMC background channel scanning is check-marked. Copied msdri.dll to 14393 Installed xyplorerFREE, copied shortcut to WMC-V8.8.1 folder, using testrights opened xyplorer and copied msdri.dll to windows\System32 Registered msdri.dll using regsvr32 Opened WMC, went up into Extra's Library, clicked Digital Cable Advisor (DCA)....Everything installs normally....Run Analyze System ran for a longer than usual amount of time, but eventually completed, and gave me the Update System Settings button. Clicked Update System Settings, Clicked yes to Media Center Add-in (this part ran, shorter than usual) but WMC said Congratulations! Your system is ready to support a digital cable experience. Clicked live tv setup and get TUNER NOT FOUND. I am thinking, I need to run PlayReady externally. Suggestions?
have searched, but not seen this specific issue. I downloaded and installed the latest x64 version. Did a clean uninstall, rebooted, installed, rebooted, and when I try to open the eshell.exe, nothing happens.
Sounds good, seems we are close. Start adding the missing files mentioned above Try to look to any relevant log, in windows log, in the programdata\...\ehome, anything useful from the HDHR setup, and so on. Try also to restore a WMC backup from 10586, to see if that changes something and so on. It's brainstorming time, and would be better if more than one person from the US wold cooperate, especially sharing their experiences with other tuners. P.S. One more thing. If I get correctly how the HDHR works could be possible to access it from the internet (configuring it properly) In that case providing (privately) the public IP should allow me (or other selected people) to setup my wmc using your tuner. If possible would be a great way to understand what's going on...
Use the mediacenter recovery task, or the resetsettings.cmd I have included on 8.8.1 (no matter the version you have installed)
might have nothing to do with any thing but 586 wmc been working ok then i got no turner private network turn on for sharing then turn on public network sharing then wmc found turner why i dont know
