Go get yourself a copy of MediaInfo and tell us what is so special about these files you are unable to convert. Try Google, "WTV Converter cannot convert the file from .wtv to .dvr-ms format because the content is not compatible with the .dvr-ms format" Appears to be an old problem associated with H.264, and/or Hauppauge Tuners. Try the "new" converter. H.264 WTV to DVR-MS
These are not H.264 WTV files. (I have been using MediaInfo for quite a while. It is included in the k-lite codecs package. And when you right-click one of these files MediaInfo doesn't appear in the context menu.*) Also, my tuner is a Compro E750, not a Hauppauge Tuner (although I have a Hauppauge Tuner in my back-up machine.) I could convert the files without problem until the Anniversary Update (After which I had to switch from V12 to the V8.x installer. This may or may not be the reason why some can still convert the files while others can't.) This is a NEW problem. The fact that it has the same error message as the old problem may have caused my post to be overlooked. *Using the browse-to method with MediaInfo on one of these files produces this sort of output: Code: General Complete name : E:\Recorded TV\American Dad!_ITV2_2016_09_14_00_08_00.wtv Format : MPEG Video Format version : Version 2 File size : 422 MiB Video Format : MPEG Video Format version : Version 2 Format profile : Main@Main Format settings, BVOP : Yes Format settings, Matrix : Custom Format settings, picture st : Frame Width : 720 pixels Height : 576 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16:9 Active Format Description : Letterbox 16:9 image Frame rate : 25.000 FPS Standard : PAL Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 Bit depth : 8 bits Scan type : Interlaced Scan order : Top Field First Compression mode : Lossy It only gives information about the video but not the audio, which might be a clue as to why WTVConverter fails to recognise these files. I have tried running WTVConverter on older files recorded on WMC under Windows 8.1 and it produces the same error, so the encoding of the files themselves hasn't changed. ETA ~ WinFF reports that the audio is MP2, so I have no idea why MediaInfo can't report that.
I am also getting the same error (although I have never really used the convert to dvr-ms function, so had not noticed it until now). I have two machines running WMC. Both machines use the same PCTV DVB-T2 tuner. On machine 1 (Windows 10 1511, WMC V12) the convert function works fine. On machine 2 (Windows 10 1607, WMC V8.8.1) I get the error - this is against the same original file on both machines. It doesn't seem to matter when the file was recorded (Windows 7 with WMC, Windows 10 pre-anniversay or Windows 10 post anniversary) the conversion always fails when running 1607. In order to eliminate the WMC version, I deinstalled V8.8.1, ran sfc /scannow and then successfully installed WMC V12. However, the error still occurs. Maybe the problem is not with the version of WMC but something else in the Anniversary update?
Exactly the same answer from me as phoebeuks #7045. WTVConverter used to work until upgrade to anniversary edition (which removed WMC) I then had to reinstall another version of WMC for w10 WTV converter hasn't worked since
Google Chrome blocks 8.8.1 download I tried to download today T-S's 8.8.1 media center from datafilehost.com but Google Chrome blocked the file at the end of the download as a malware anyone else have the same issue?

Not even completely sure what this thread is about, I couldn't track down anything related to "8.8.1" on any of T-S's threads. I assume @Enthousiast knows what this is about.. My only purpose in posting is, please be more detailed in your future posts. Especially with the thread title. "Chrome blocks 8.8.1 download" could literally mean anything at all. To solve the issue, simply temporarily disable Chrome's malware protection(Only do this for trusted sources such as reputable developers here at MDL) Go to the Settings menu > Show Advanced Settings > under Privacy uncheck "Protect you and your device from dangerous sites" Also, when downloading from DataFileHost, make sure to uncheck the use of their Download Manager to avoid further issues
There has been above 20 complaints from people using Chrome in the last 6 months Edge has trouble with the download also I have no download problems Since switching to a browser named Vivaldi
ok thank you, it worked with IE and ill go back to Chrome, i dont have any need to change my browser, it was just for domnloading WMC 8.8.1. thanky you again
Have been running this for at least a couple months now on 1511 and everything has been running swimmingly for the most part. I was wondering if there were any known complications going to the anniversary upgrade that I should be aware of? Thanks in advance!
Oh sure you have the need, no matter that single download. Just test it for a week and you will start to understand how much your'e missing using a dumb browser like chrome.
What am I doing wrong? Tried downloading with Vilvaldi from the t-s link and get the same result as chrome (it even ids the browser as chrome). I can download in IE but that downloads as an .exe. Hardly seem safe.
