I thought I read something about running the commands from the testrights prompt... icacls and ntrights Those 2 are not going to fix DRM though. The Xbox should be able to play the same DRM content that your htpc can play. Actually the extender is not even playing the file...the htpc is playing the file. Did you install and configure RDP Wrapper? Please let us know the steps you used when you eventually get it togetherr. I did mine the "Old Way". Not sure what to suggest for the built in version.
So, you can watch the channels, you just cant see whats on the channel in the guide...so therefore you are unable to schedule recordings. Check your zip at the MS/Rovi site....are the channels blank there too? If the channels are not populated at MS/Rovi, find a zip near you that is populated then rerun tuner setup.....(you likely tried this all ready, right?)
After rolling back the Anniversary Edition a while back, I can't install V12 anymore with a message Error: 0x800f0922 DISM Failed But, 8.8.1 installs and works...for a while. Eventually I'll get a System Files Modified error and have to reinstall it. Is there a workaround for this System Files Modified error?
There is a fix for that. I forget exactly how far back the post was. Try the Search Thread feature. and just search 0x800f0922
Hi all I have a quick question. My WMC has disappeared overnight, I assume due to a windows update. I am going to try and re-install it but am not sure which version to use. The one I had was V12 I think as I have that still in my downloads folder. The links at the start of this thread are V12 and V8. Which version is the one that I should use and where is the correct download location? I use WMC to watch live tv, record live tv and also use Emby plug in to watch our digital collection. I am in Australia if that makes any difference. Thank you in advance for any advice.
I meant that this is the place to look to see if the guide is populating properly. Roviguide is gone and MSN no longer provides tv listings.
So I should download and install V8 instead of reinstalling v12? I have downloaded the V8 from the alternative link but get an error when I try to extract it with Winzip. I had to download it using Mozilla as Chrome said it was malicious and blocked it, however runnning defender over it showed no problems. And yes I did untick the secured download manager thingee before downloading it. Is there another link to download V8 from? Thank You
Try using WinRar or 7zip. Don't forget to unblock the file you downloaded, before you try to extract it. Right-click/properties/unblock Alternate links have been covered a million times.....and quite frankly, I am tired of commenting on something my 5 year old figured out by looking at the pictures. go back to post 7100 and start reading.
Thank you Crash. I went back to the post you mentioned and read the 175 posts in between and didn't find anything useful there at all except a lot of arguing back and forth and one post with someone yelling at someone else to use winrar. As I said above I was able to download the file successfully and had unchecked the box everyone seems to have missed and got their knickers in a twist about but could not extract the file. I will download Winrar and and try that as I only have Winzip. I don't recall seeing any advice that winzip might not extract the file in the instructions, that I also read in full before downloading the file. Perhaps this advice could be added to the instructions. I understand everyones frustration at having to answer the same questions over and over, however I certainly cannot understand 90% of what is said in the posts on this forum and sometimes just seek a simple English answer to a problem. I most definitely appreciate all of the effort made by those who have made it possible for us to still use WMC and I hope to not have any more problems that will require assistance.
Thank you guys!. Having Windows 10 Anniversary Update, I have gotten that WMC works recognizing the tuner at the first time and with no extra codec pack (e.g. LV filters) thanks to the WMC v8.8.1 x64 (the WMC v12 with DIMS doesn't work). So here you have a pick of advice for newbies with the same problem as me.
Right, a standard tuner should have no issues, the problems happen when you have Cablecard tuners and protected content...
T-S you should edit your download and put "Required Winzip or 7z for uncompression" and call it a day... So many posts on COMPUTER basics that are really not needed. I guess we cant expect some people to understand computer basics....
