I'm sorry but all I know is what meluvalli or Gareth North wrote, I have added the needed files for the user convenience, but I never owned an extender. Be sure you renamed/replaced the file before installing WMC, is the only suggestion I can provide.
Thank you for the prompt reply. I actually did rename/replace the file successfully with no luck at all. If you've never owned an extender, then how are you sure it even works with your V8.8.1? I know the directions for both meluvalli and Gareth North mention using the v12 DISM installer, but I cannot get that to install even if I wanted to try it. Has anyone else had any luck successfully getting their Xbox 360 extender to work with your V8.1.1 like this?
The file is included in v8.8.1 but you can use it on V12 as well The v8.8.1 uninstaller is meant also to leave the system clean and ready for v12. If you want to test the v12 just uninstal, reboot, and eventually run sfc /scannow, then install the v12
Well, I've already done that exact same thing a few times, but I'll try it again and let you know what happens.
Didn't need to.. used the 8.8.1 uninstaller and then sfc /scannow. When it came back clean, reinstalled 8.8.1
Yeah, well I didn't think you were talking about the OS. I thought you were talking about your WMC package installer, which is why I asked what you meant.
Sorry for the late reply. I had meant a to say - a way to get Media Center onto Windows 10n Anniversary update - not fix, sorry. I had first had trouble getting Windows Media Center to work on Windows 10 but the version I used wouldnt work when I upsdated to Anniversary edition. When I used this version (WMC-V8.8.1_x64_by_T-S) it workesd perfectly. I just wanted to say thank you for the work that had been done, I am very grateful indeed.
reinstall dvblink client from the the bat file and try to setup the tuner again, this normally fixes it
Still no go with v12 after doing this same thing once again. I can get it installed, but it just errors out when connecting to the extender. I then did another clean install with 10240 and started all over again and it was the same result over and over. Why can I not get my Xbox extender to work on either edition? I mean it's not like I'm on the Anniversary update. This just does NOT make sense! I am following all of these directions to a perfect T and nothing works with the extender. Of course I can get the main host HTPC to run TV just fine through WMC, but w/o the extender it's worthless to me. Can someone else please help? Is someone working on an updated version of the v8.8.1 or v12 installers? Or perhaps, could someone send me a link to download one of the older packages to see if maybe that will work?
Lost MCE after Anniversary Update When the update got pushed through it deleted WMC. I re-installed v12 and all is fine except no guide data. I have tried the suggested work arounds from the past. No Luck These fixes are from back around posts prior to 1400's Are there any newer work arounds? I have scrolled through some of the posts. but my eyes are bleeding trying to read all of them Thanks
1. I had to pull a new Mcx2Prov.exe file from the WindowsMediaCenter_10.0.10537.0_x64 version as the one included in the current v12 causes media center to error adding an extender right off the bat. I just placed it in the bin\MediaCenter directory before installing WMC. See link below to the Mcx2Prov file. 2. I had to add some commands to the bin\install script. (See below) 3. Install latest RDPWrapper 4. Install WMCv12 5. Reboot (THIS IS IMPORTANT!) 6. Run WMC as Administrator (MAKE SURE YOU RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR!) 7. Add extender as normal! Enjoy!!! 1. this step is all ready done for you 2. When you edited instalBLUE.bat.....what line did you add the two commands (icacls) (ntrights)?
What happens is...... you install the infini4 driver, then you go to WMC and run TV setup and WMC finds no tuners. Go back to about August 2 (the date anniversary was first released) It took us awhile to narrow it down to CableCard doesnt work. I'm not 100% convinced that Ceton does not work on W10 anniversary (aka 14393 is easier for me) I am pretty sure that if you pulled the cablecard and installed the ceton as a non cablecard tuner it would play TV. Also, I dont think anyone tried DVBLink Server and setup the Ceton as a virtual Tuner in WMC. If you would like to try DVBLink I will dig up the instructions.
I thought that meluvalli was just mentioning that he had edited the scripts and added those commands. He even says in #2 "I had to add some commands to the bin\install script". So, we're supposed to be adding commands as well to get this stuff to work?
