ok, it's a little more than just Kodi that gets in my head, it starts a domino effect for any change I would make opening doors to other improvements. I was working out things like tvheadend for an ati 600 usb tuner, install it's drivers on a pi, then do I use a usb drive or set up a NAS... or stick where I am and maybe help one other person fighting this losing war =)
Just use dvblink then. This way you can use both WMC and Kodi configuring your two tuners from a single place.
dumb question time: do I have to buy the tvsource package for 50 euro, or just find the download section and get the dvblink server package? DVBLink Server Description: DVBLink Server is a free core component of the DVBLink product suite that ties all DVBLink products together.
I gave up getting WMC back on my pc with hdhomerun after the anniversary update. nextpvr and kodi was the best thing ever, Don't even need kodi really but it has a better interface then npvr alone. After figuring out how to get the guide data for free its worked great (although I understand its nowhere near as easy to figure out quickly like wmc was).
Before talking about buying, download and test it. Anyway, yes dvblink V6 you need to pay the TV source for 50euros. The older versions had the licence split in two, the tv source was 24 euros and the network sharing server was another 24
Although I'm happy with WMC I think that WMC isn't nowhere as easy to configure as Mediaportal or Kodi. Only MythTV requires a good dose of patience to be configured properly, especially if installed from scratch on a random Linux distro.
Anyone else's CableCard tuners stop working on 1511? Everything was working great up until this past weekend when I went to watch TV. Got a "no available tuner" error, tried running through Live TV setup again and it couldn't find any of my tuners. I then tried reinstalling WMC and still no dice. I have both a Ceton InfiniTV 4 and HDHR Prime and it can't detect either. I'm able to get to both devices' web pages and the Ceton Diagnostics tool is able to see the Ceton card just fine. I also tried the workaround where you restart, put into sleep mode and try again and still nothing. Any ideas?
The problem is probably this update to 1511: KB3192441 I use the a tool from Microsoft to remove and hide the update, search for the following from Microsoft: KB3073930 I think the tool works well, just have to remember it when needed again in the future! I placed the tool file in a folder, created a shortcut to it and placed the shortcut in my programs list.
I realized that after I send the info to ricktendo64. I did not know you would have to create an account to read the first post of a thread.
Argh I need some assistance. Comcast has drm protected every channel on my lineup. I'm using a hdhr. I can't for the life of me get wmc 12 to install without a 0x800f0922 error. I have followed the install guides of installing v8, running sfc scan, uninstalling, then installing v12 but am still greeted with the same error. I'm on windows 10, reverted anniversary addition forever ago when it destroyed half of my machine. Are there further instructions somewhere to get this installed?
I think the only way to view DRM protected channels using an HDHR Prime is with official WMC (pre Windows 10). It is odd that Comcast is going with DRM on all channels. In my area Comcast encrypts all channels so you are forced to use their equipment or hard to find CableCard equipment. DRM is only used on premium channels such as HBO in my area. If all DRM is coming my way a non-Comcast equipment setup will be very limited. On a side note, Android with the old HDHomerun View green app (non DVR) allows for watching DRM channels. The green app has since been pulled from the Playstore and the Amazon App Store. I just stored a backup of the apk to my google drive just in case I need to reinstall. Also, for anyone interested in using HDHR Prime on Windows 10, HDHR DVR works well except for DRM. They keep promising DRM, but it has been quite a while since the beta has been out with no DRM in sight. The interface takes getting used to and it costs $60 for the software and one year of guide plus $30 per year after. I keep bouncing between Windows 10 with DVBLink and WMC v8.8.1, Win 10 with HDHR DVR, Win 8.1 with WMC and Android TV with HDHR DVR. I usually stick with v8.8.1 because I only have one DRM channel that I don't watch anyway, but my wife is not happy with the ever changing TV situation.
See if you can UNINSTALL anniversary (don't know if you can but if you can't you may be SOL). To get V12 run, get the 8.8.1 setup and run the uninstaller script from that, reboot, and run sfc /scannow with a reboot in between until it comes back with no errors at all. Then try the V12 install.
I'm testing out nextpvr now, probably use that and Plex as my WMC replacement so it can be used with Roku as extender instead of xbox. may also try kodi on firetv. My pc got to where it doesn't load windows store or it's apps like calc, but when it had an update (which broke WMC) those were fixed. I'm happy to try if there were more hints at where to look, but no win errors, and so many files in updates is making it difficult and tedious at this point. Maybe Meluvalli can do it =)
DRM channels on my HDHR-3CC started working in Nov or Dec 2015, and continue to work using v12 with W10 "10586.0"
Wanted to report in: Windows 10 LTSB 2015 here. HDHomeRun Prime works perfectly, along with DRM'ed channels like HBO using WMC. Beta drivers do not work, but the latest non-beta from 2015 works a treat. The cumulative update that nuked pre-anniversary Windows 10 users did not effect Windows 10 LTSB.
The work/effort so many of you put into this stuff is amazing, it's really something. It's unfortunate that the anniversary update has (seemingly) killed off the last remnants of WMC, but I guess it is what it is. It would be nice if the HDHR DVR software would ever come around to fulfilling its original premise but until it's capable of playing DRM channels, it's pretty much useless to me. DVR doesn't really even mean much to me, and really this seems like less and less relevant of a feature these days with so many things being "on demand" one way or another. I've resorted to using the functionality of PowerDVD 16 to watch whatever TV I want on my PC, and it seems to be working fine. It obviously has no guide functionality or DVR, but I personally don't watch a lot of TV so those things are no big deal to me. I just can't go back to a cable box, so I'll use whatever I'm able to use on a PC. As it stands, PowerDVD 16 is doing the job for me.
