In WMC, how can I see whether a HDHomeRun Prime channel is MPEG2 or MPEG4? I've looked at all the details but didn't find it.
To go into debug mode, while watching a channel, on the remote enter 411 and then the info button, then use the right and left arrows to navigate. To use the keyboard, enter 411 and then Ctrl-D.
Maybe because the tuner has a mind of its own. possibly if you get the tuner back to where it was.....might get you back to making it work again. Noticed this with the Ceton's, had to do "Factory Reset" to get any positive results with a new config, maybe HDHR is similar?
You gotta get Win10 build 10586 or Win10 LTSB 2015. Everything WMC works fine. If you use anniversary aka 14393, when you try to setup the tuner in WMC, you will get no tuner found. Go back in this thread to the first week of August

crash2009 what updates have you installed if any without losing wmc ? I have mind at 494 and stop all updates
I just tried WMC in Win 7 Pro X64 in VMware and no go. Without playready I can get non-DRM channels only (and it had slight motion blur). With playready installed nothing gets through. All on Win 10 X64 w/anniversary update.
I havn't read any reports of what you are trying. Try Win10 10586 or LTSB 2015 in VMware. For WMC see Page 1 of this thread. WMC Version 8.1 is the most recent. Search this thread for VMware, there have been a few success reports with other Win10 versions. June 11, 2015, August 4, 2015
You know after 760 (7596 replies) pages of posts on getting WMC to run on Windows 10. What I realized, its just easier to dual boot Windows 7 Embedded Set Top Box Edition. :-/ Considering the latest versions of Windows don't support WMC anymore regardless of what people have tried.
@crash2009 hi dude only for information @ all users LTSB 2015 don't run more after all updates I make yesterday test with fresh install in another machine that I have; so users don't attempt install WMC simply NO run I think that some update come with restriction is waste of time only
From time to time I read sentences like this. Obviously win 7 works, win 10 works as well. It still work perfectly for anyone outside the US, and it still works perfectly for US people assuming they use the right version. Setting up WMC is matter of few seconds, way less than the official MS procedure in Win8 and Win 8.1, so wheres the difficult?
I applaud the efforts by all means. But the difficult is where you end up being behind the curve in our "production" environments just to keep a piece of software. The solutions for newer operating systems just aren't there, Ceton isn't even updating with any new hardware. Their last twitter post was 4 May 2015, and their blog has a post from 2013. At least SilconDust is looking at RVU/RUI technologies to integrate into TV's. The integrated Windows All In One solution of being ahead of the curve with the latest software has passed as we can see with WMC not working on newer updates. One might say, "WHY" upgrade to Windows 10 from 8.1 etc. Misewell just stay on WIndows 7 if your going to ask that
Well said Klownicle. For those in the US that have cut the cord, I can happily report my mediapc survived the upgrade to fully updated Win10 1607 Pro. I use WMC 8.8.1 with two SD HDHR3 (the older generation) and the guide appears to still be working and playback/recording OTA is fine (no cable, so no encrypted stuff, just from my attic antenna in east Orlando FL). All the themes, plugins (Emby), and functions still work great. My reason for upgrading: Forza 3 wouldn't run without doing it. My process: Make image of OS drive with Backupper. Extract WMC 8.8.1 to the D drive. Run backup settings. Turn off defer feature updates and let Windows Update run. Wait an hour while the wheels churn and play a movie on the xBone (yay Emby). Reinstall video and HDHR drivers and a few other updates. Run install for WMC 8.8.1 and wait a minute. Click on icon on desktop to launch WMC. Uh oh, hourglass, then nothing. Try again. Same thing, WMC is not starting. Go back to WMC 8.8.1 and run reset factory settings batch. Click on icon on desktop to launch WMC and get the glorious startup sound and a clean WMC. Close it, go back to WMC 8.8.1 and run restore settings. Click on icon on desktop to launch WMC and everything was almost back to the way it was. Reinstalled a few WMC plugins and mods. Checked tuners, guide, recording, scheduled recording, live tv, everything working great. Thanks for your work on the project, it's still alive and kicking for at least some of us US users!
I have big doubts on that. WMC starts nicely even on 14393.447 (which is the latest update for the anniversary edition) both on LTSB 2016 and server 2016, so hardly something on LTSB 2015 is going to block WMC from starting. Very likely you have some messed config, just run the reset settings batch.
