Thanks, but I didn't see anything about CableCard, only DVBlink. Can't play Cablecard DRM content through VMware it seems.
@T-S Hi dude ok maybe I make something wrong because on LTSB 2015 and LTSB 2016 WMC don't run ! before with old install (july 2015) LTSB works fine and now NO actually I'm running LTSB 2016 x64 (14.393.447) that I make modifications with MSMG Toolkit including Fraunhofer MP3 Professional codec Tweak on my install.wim removed unecessary things and more nothing in sequence I make fresh install and all works fine (none bsod's) except WMC maybe some problem related to Fraunhofer Tweak?? still I reset settings two times and no sucess so my doubt into KB3200970 have some restriction by M$please tell me the correct version of WMC only for confirm maybe I make something wrong while the damn hacker mess MDL thanks in advance
Please tell me that it's WMC that has an issue running on ltsb 2016, and not all media players like vlc or mpc-hc... I'm about to install ltsb, and that would be a deal crusher...
@jspenc3, Thanks for clarifying that you were connecting OTA. And a request to other installers/troubleshooters, please specify both Win 10 build and Cable Card usage when reporting successful WMC connections. Thanks in advance!
Unplug your Ethernet and disable your WiFi, so it cant update until you have time to disable it. Mine has been running like this for 9 months. Disable Update Service. Fairly simple actually. Made an Image the day I disabled updates. Still running fine. Using 10586 with HDHR-3CC with CableCard. As you can see is playing Starz which is a protected channel.
I bought PowerDVD to test its DRM capability. It works alright but damn is it slow to change channels. It constantly needs affirmation from Cyberlink to get the go ahead to unlock channels as needed. It doesn't even come with a guide. I'm thinking of returning it and just using Nvidia Shield but then I have to change monitor inputs and audio streams. This sucks.
@crash2009 yay thanks dude for help me, but I solved in another manner for several reasons I simply make one image of my system (LTSB 2016 where wmc NO run) and after format and install Windows 7 Ultimate I think this is more objective making this and no worried with all craps of Windows 10
I bought a legit copy Seriously though, I tried a pirated copy to experiment with and a window popped up suggesting one of the reasons protected channels aren't working was because of the serial number I used (keygen provided). Probably why it pings Cyberlink to check everytime you change the channel. It was only a $50 digital download and refundable within 30 days.
Yeah I meant it wasn't my intent to make it sound like PowerDVD was some sort of great solution or anything....it just works well for what I personally use it for. I'm not a huge TV watcher and when I do watch, I tend to know exactly what and when. It serves my purpose but I certainly understand people who want/need a guide, faster response, DVR, etc, it's just not going to work.
After some consideration I'm keeping it. I don't channel surf nearly as much as I thought either, and I have TWC's TV schedule accessible, bookmarked at the top of my browser.
Install 2015 ltsb on a stick pc works fine until some security update installed. The "Viewing or Listening Conflict - no tuner available to satisfy the current request" appear and no tuner detect. Uninstall all the security update, WMC back to work.
Confirmed, KB3205383 kills HDHomerun tuners on LTSB 2015. Sigh, I had really hoped this stupidity wouldn't make it to LTSB 2015, but it has. Unfortunately, I think this probably means every future cumulative update released will also kill HDHomerun on LTSB 2015. I'm now not so sure what to do, since the only way forward will basically be to turn off automatic updates, which is what I didn't want to do. Does anyone who knows better than me want to weigh in with all of our options?
Assuming it's true (no offense, I'm always doubtful on very first reports) given KB3205383 is released after KB3198585 after just a month, the differences between the two should be relatively easy to figure out, using the good old Windiff from win98, or something more modern like it.
Windows 10 LTSB 2015 and can get WMC doing the same as 393 anyone else have this problem or fix ? posted about month earlier
Somebody explained the several ways to turn updates off. Disable the service has been working for me since March 1, 2016 WMC should be on a dedicated box. No need updates, antivirus, etc. My Win7 WMC box hasn't had an update since 2012 If you need updates build a different box.
