Any new things on a Ceton tuner ? Would love to get back into this but, with out being able to use ONE of my Ceton tuners, sigh, I cant go on..
I am still on Windows 10 pre-anniversary edition. WMC with CableCard HDHomerun Prime is still working because I blocked/hid specific updates mentioned in this thread. Should I from now on block all cumulative updates? There was a new cumulative update a few days ago. I am not willing yet to block all updates.
Im on the Win10 anniversary update. Is there a list of win10 updates that i should uninstall to get my HDHomeRun Prime working? Currently i get the "tuners not found"error
On page 1 it states that the Anniversary update has broken cablecard tuners. There are hundreds of posts on the same since August. Best bet is to install either 2015 LTSB or 1511 and disable all updates, as mentioned hundreds of times on this forum. For you - you can't be on the Anniversary Update build. For others with cumulative updates since August 2016 - uninstall anything that's a cumulative update. Good luck.
hi I'm esi got a problem ( Ver 12 Installed ) : the playready update was incomplete try to solve it : Solution 1: 1) Go into Control Panel, click "Uninstall a program", and uninstall "PlayReady PC Runtime". 2) Run Windows Media Center. Update PlayReady by going through Tasks, Settings, TV, TV Signal, Update PlayReady. Solution 2: 1) Quit Windows Media Center if running. 2) Open a cmd prompt - run as administrator. 3) Run the following commands one at a time: CODE: SELECT ALL net stop ehrecvr cd %programdata%\Microsoft\PlayReady del *.hds rmdir /s Cache cd %programdata%\Microsoft\ehome del *.hds rmdir /s Cache net start ehrecvr 4) Run Windows Media Center. Update PlayReady by going through Tasks, Settings, TV, TV Signal, Update PlayReady. Solution 3: 1) Use the ResetDRM tool from @@@@@@@@ to reset your PlayReady DRM 2) Run Windows Media Center. Update PlayReady by going through Tasks, Settings, TV, TV Signal, Update PlayReady. But why we still have Error ????
Perhaps someone could update Page 1 to reflect the current W10 install status, specifically to include all the alternative working approaches e.g. approach 2: install ver 1511, then hide all forthcoming cumulative updates starting with KB3192441, 3198586 and 3205386 using the MS Show or Hide tool. Also, it seems these are beyond "notes" at this point - they are in fact part of the instructions for a successful install. Making the instructions more prominent might help new members and reduce confusion / repetitive posts. And, is there any news at all about being able to move beyond these workarounds? It would be great to have an update on page 1 as to any progress.
KB3150513 only updates Compatibility Appraiser database, it doesn't change or affect anything in the system
KB3205386 Removes cable card recognition in WMC when installed as a "Security Update" on version 1511 build 10586.589. Removing it restores WMC/CC capability. If this is old news just ignore it.
I decided to give this a go on a fully updated win 10 64 PC. First time I ran the install (from the latest package) it failed. I rebooted the PC and ran the installer again. This time I got a success message. However WMC will not run. When I click the icon it looks as though something is about to happen - but nothing :-( Any suggestions?
I guess the point of people is running Windows 10 is to get updates... so they can get the new features that Microsoft is bringing down. If your building a dedicated HTPC, it should not be 10 unless your running a early version. Personally 7 or 8.1 (with WMC key) would be the best you can get with WMC and disable updates completely. Updates just cause issues, even with Win 7, as WMC is no more from Microsoft, it gets very little testing with updates, so things could be broken. I wish someone was able to get a Ceton tuner working on WMC on 10 again..... oh, well..
I am pretty sure I can get an Infini4 working in a 10586 box. I dont really feel like buying another tuner just to prove a point though. If someone sent me an Infini4 to use I would be willing to tackle the project. I have no hope whatsoever for trying to use The Network Tuner feature with the Infini4 installed in the Win7 box and trying to see the tuner in a Win10 box. DVBLink would work from Win7 to Win10 but Cetons Network Tuner Feature in the driver would have to GO.
Yeah I was sorta hoping we'd get to the point where all it takes is a reinstall of the package if an update broke it, but it appears that the integration is a little more complex than that. And being that there may be all of 3 Xbox 360 extender users out there I feel like there's not too much hope, still holding out with it for now, but might do dedicated w7pc, or move to plex dvr or something. Still love how well it has worked and love this effort, but it appears there is less and less interest so it's not going to be worth the time for less contributors to get over bigger hurdles, since we are fighting a losing war as T-S put it I think =)
Threw in the towel, no longer using WMC. I had a boot problem with one computer running WMC and needed to reinstall Win10, should have had a recent image but didn't for that pc. Lucky I had the original usb install stick. I ran into complications with the WMC install, I also have an NVidia Shield running the HDHomeRun DVR app, it and WMC were playing nice after installing the latest firmware/setup for the prime, but I had trouble when reinstalling on the troublesome pc. It pushed me over the edge and I just went with the latest HDHomeRun DVR app on everything. I am lucky here that only a few premium channels are drm, and surprisingly some premiums are not drm, normal channels are not drm. My main gripe with the dvr app is the interface, I still prefer the wmc interface. I let my pcs update completely now and have the dvr app working well on all. I will still pop in here to see if anything new pops up!
I switched to PowerDVD 16 and get all the drm cable channels just fine. No dvr, but that's not a big price to pay for the convenience of having an up-to-date Windows.
