It worked at first so I assume you saw this? If so, how?? The program lets you export the changes into either on install file or an uninstall file. But when I went to install it, it wouldn't install. It also wouldn't let me right click to run as an administrator.
Sure, it will work on the Original Pre-Anniversary version. The thing is, I wanted to work on a current version. I use WIndows 10 on my office machine and allow updates because of I want to use Win 10 to it's fullest. I was using shared tuners off my HTPC to watch TV on this computer with my Ceton Infinty 6. It works fine in 7 and 8.1, it did work before in 10 till that Anniversary update (as most people using a Ceton tuner knows). The shared tuner thing did not work on the Infintv 4...only the 6... Yea, its due to the DRM package that was part of Windows Media Player, Microsoft completely changed it and removed the older version (updated for DHCP 2.2) and WMC needed that for DRMed based content. A lot of people were saying that is the cause for it. On my 10 machine, I am not worried about Extenders (as extenders are connected to my W7 HTPC), I just wanted to watch live TV time to time...Like I could with 7 and 8... sigh..
I keep checking this forum several times a day. My system is: Win 10 Pro x64 OS build 10586.164 i5 2500k OC'd @ 4.4Ghz 16GB DDR3 RAM InfiniTV 6 Pci-E 3 Xbox 360 extenders WMC v12 (with the rdp changes by Garleth to allow for extender support) Comcast Cable with Motorola Cable Card Everything has been running excellent. I used the method to completely disable updates, but would like to eventually (if CC access ever comes to Win 10 AE). This is my main PC (for gaming, HTPC, streaming to extenders and plex, etc...) It has been nearly flawless. Recently, I was having issues because Comcast switched to h.264 for all cable network channels, so sometimes switching from mpeg-2 to mpeg-4 would cause a black screen, but that seems to have been ironed out (except for when switching from a h.264 to an SD mpeg-2 channel, like MC channels). Also, DRM h.264 doesn't work properly on extenders, but fine on my main machine (HBO HD). The screen would be black but I would hear sound. Now, I can see pictures, and sound is fine. Sometimes, the pictures will move for 2-3 seconds and then freeze. Doesn't bother me too much because for some reason HBO 2 HD in my area is not DRM, so it works fine. Plus, there is HBO GO I can use. Anyway, just an update for how my setup is.
Well, I play games on my HTPC, and although I previously had a working setup on Windows 10 LTSB 2015, to my amazement Nvidia doesn't support LTSB 2015 for their 10 series video cards. I bit the bullet and upgraded to 1511 Pro, but even disabling all the updates that are known to break cable cards wasn't enough - WMC would work fine for a day then out of the blue bother me with "system files modified" messages under WMC. I finally decided enough is enough and I went back to Windows 8.1. HDHomerun encrypted channels work great, my games work great on my new video card, and hopefully by the time Windows 8.1 stops being well-supported there are better options. Unfortunately, running something like PowerDVD destroys the wife acceptance factor of the whole setup.
That's a well known problem discussed many times here. Just use the V12 not the V8 if you are affected. As per the Nvidia drivers, I avoid nvidia like the plague for obvious reasons, so I don't have direct experience, but I think is pretty easy to install their drivers on LTSB 2015, just like it's possible for Server 2016.
The problem I was having was that v12 was refusing to work. The DISM install went fine, but actually executing MCE would fail (no error pop up, MCE would just fail to start). I tried using the MCE maintenance task in task scheduler, but this didn't fix it. So I reverted to Windows 8.1 and I've been trouble free since! Regarding the Nvidia drivers, there's actually an incompatibility between Windows 10 pre-1511 and the newest drivers for the 10-series Nvidia cards. I was actually running a GTX 950 on LTSB 2015 with no issue, but the 10-series card drivers refuse to install, and combing the internet for solutions the only one was to update to 1511+.
I bought PowerDVD 16 Ulttra to replace WMC on Windows 10 Anniversary OS and I found that PowerDVD 16 Ultra is buggy playing regular DRM Non-Protected TV channels from my HDHomeRun Prime tuner box. I have TWC (now Spectrum) cable service. PowerDVD 16 Ultra does play all the DRM Protected channels fine. But it has a serious bug for playing DRM Non-Protected channels where it will play for only 25 minutes and it will then quit and return to the channels menu screen. It's strange. I believe Cyberlink has purposely crippled it this way to limit its usefulness. I have reported it to Cyberlink support and they came back and said that they do not support streaming from 3rd party TV channel boxes, so no guarantee it works. In other words, they don't seem to want to fix it. PowerDVD 16 Ultra plays all the DRM Protected channels just fine for as long as you want to watch the channel. However I've experienced another bug with it where if you start changing channels it will crash with an error and quit out of PowerDVD totally. So although it does work enough to view DRM Protected TV channels, it has bugs in it. I've also tried running it on a Windows 8.1 Pro PC and it exhibits the same flaws. But for $39 I bought the bundled package for on Holiday sale, it was worth it (I guess) until a better solution comes along for Windows 10 Anniversay systems.
Time to let WMC go... KODI ftw, I guess... Why can't WMC work proprely on Win10 ?!? I mean, it works, but not on the latest Anniversary Edition. Fair enough, except that Win10 is a real pain in the ass when it comes to updates. Ok, fair enough again : go to Group Policy and stop automatic updates and voilĂ ! But freaking hell, Win10 still prompt me to get the latest update, EVERY, f***ING, DAY. It's not too much of an hassle at first, but it prompts anytime - while gaming, while watching tv, etc. - and you can't do s**t until you click "get update", then close the newly poped up window. Right now, I'm to the point that I cannot endure this anymore and there are no more options than to kill WMC for good. WMC used to be easy to use The last thing to say would be "thanks WMC for your kind services, now RIP..."
Go to services find Windows update and disable the service. You will never ever be asked again 2 update
Setting up a new(to me) PC, cant get WMC to see the tuner, keep getting the no tuners available error, installed WMC, installed DCA, and installed the HDHOMERUN drivers, Running Windows version 10586.494 and WMC 8.8.1 by T-S, am i missing something? I thought .494 was old enough (my other pc is .545 and works perfect) updates are disabled.
I'm having the same problem with a new tablet and 2 Ceton Infinitv 6 ETH tuners and Windows 10586.494. I have 10586.589 working on a different PC.
Dear god... And I thought Group Policy was the bestest solutions... Trying this atm. Only disadvantage of staying with WMC is not having the latest OS...
well, i got it working, re-installed the system with 10240.0 had to manually install playready, but other then that, it came up with 0 issues. well so i though untill i went to a DRM channel, (HBO) and got an error about system files needed for playback have been replaced, followed by WMC trying to load a windows update page... This is a 100% fresh install of 10240, first thing i did was disable updates, followed by installing WMC(8.8.1), then HDHOMERUN drivers, then setup the live tv, first 3 channels were fine, then hit hbo, and all that went down.
Why do i have the feeling that Windows tries to follow UNIX instead of MAC this time? O well they both free and that's maybe a coincidence like LINUX was.
WMC runs again after Windows 10 Anniversary Update! Windows 10 anniversary update completely wiped WMC installation. After a few reinstall efforts with v12 installer, although v12 installer WMC_6.3.9600.16384_x64_v12.7z seems to install all files successfully, but clicking on Windows Media Center icon or launch C:\Windows\ehome\ehshell.exe directly won't see WMC running. I finally able to reinstall WMC by using v11 installer https //forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/61061-DISCUSSION-Patch-WMC-to-run-on-Windows-10-final-amp-possible-alternatives/page289?p=1189634&viewfull=1#post1189634. I'm able to get WMC running again with all channels setup. I have HDHomeRun DUAL (firmware 20161117) Read last post on this page by "Ian-Highlander" for details: https //emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/37556-win10-anniversary-edition-breaks-wmc/ So the whole problem for WMC to work again could just be a minor thing in v12 installer. Hope abbodi1406 can look into that.
Any time there is a "BIG" Windows update it is necessary to uninstall WMC first. This saves many problems.
As mentioned, the issue that needs to be resolved is that CableCard HDHR3-CC stops working with the Anniversary Update. HDHomeRun Dual does not support premium cable.
As discussed endlessly, if WMC won't start at all, just reset your settings, looks like tht event the monkey proof reset settings bundled with v8.8.1 is not enough to block other voodoo techniques
