Great work, I just installed V12 on my Win10 1607 system. I didn't need to install the lav filters or Playready, just followed the tips on adding the EPG to the hosts file, and giving the network service admin rights. It seems to have installed flawlessly. Welcome back old friend!. I've really missed you WMC. I have been using Kodi but for how popular it is, the experience is hard work. Using it as my main source of TV frustrated me the interface has a few flaws that make it painful to use (have to use keyboard to go full screen and out of full screen, volume control requires a sub menu), series recording not good with Mediaportal as the backend, and the mouse wheel won't scroll through the EPG, it needs the keyboard. I tried the latest Mediaportal front end which has a WMC skin, but that is so flaky it is not ready for serious use yet. So WMC64 for the win! I have set up the DVBLink server, TV Sources and DVBLink client so I can stream to my laptop, works fine. The DVBLink setup is only trial software and I'm out of work at the moment so once the trial ends I'll revert to Kodi on my laptop using the ServerWMC package to handle the network streaming, which also works fine.
Just installed 8.81 on another W10 machine. Having issues with constant flashing or flickering of entire screen when in full screen mode. Don't have to playing a video or anything. All drivers updated. I am using and HDMI monitor from laptop and also a 720p tv through an HDMI on a usb dock powered by DisplayLink driver. Any suggestions - I tried different resolutions. Update: I narrowed it down to the HDMI through USB. Using HDMI via SmartMedia dock with Displaylink driver WMC flashes like crazy. (Mediasonic SmartDock USB 3.0 )
Seems update to 14393.726 introduced a new hurdle, in my last test it crashed every time i tried to watch live tv.
@mach1016: from V12 workaround notes: old-not-needed workaround, left for reference: to make WMC wake up for recordings, you may need to make "NETWORK SERVICE" a member of the administrator group Run lusrmgr.msc, or right-click on Start button and select: Computer Management > Local users & Groups then: Groups > Administrators > Add > "network service" > Check names > OK or directly open command prompt as administrator: for /f "usebackq delims=" %x in (`powershell "(New-Object System.Security.Principal.SecurityIdentifier('S-1-5-32-544')).Translate([System.Security.Principal.NTAccount]).Value.Split([IO.Path]:irectorySeparatorChar)[1]"`) do set "admins=%x" for /f "usebackq delims=" %x in (`powershell "(New-Object System.Security.Principal.SecurityIdentifier('S-1-5-20')).Translate([System.Security.Principal.NTAccount]).Value"`) do set "netsvc=%x" net localgroup %admins% "%netsvc%" /add Windows 10 Home edition don't have Group Policy, thus you need to try the command prompt directly

I just wanted to see if it would wake up. addon .... Okay ... I started another scheduled recording at 5:04 AM ... for a TV show at 5:30 AM ... I then clicked start button and chose ... I did another try ... again ... and it did wake up ... after doing the command ... this was a 6:30 wake up ... it woke up at 6:22 AM
@Gareth North: I'm so glad that you posted your question about Recording Broker. I remember seeing it way back when I used to use DVRMS Toolbox but never took the trouble to investigate it. However, having configured and tested it on my old spare machines, I can see that it is really useful gadget. So I configured it to offload conflicts from my Living Room PC to the server upstairs and, to my amazement, it even copes with the fact that one only has satellite tuners and the other only has terrestrial tuners. top marks babgvant!
Hi Technodevotee, Glad you can see the use of it. The Mrs is well happy today she's been setting all her soaps to record from the NUC in the lounge she hates having to go in the man cave to do it on the main PC so Maximum Kudos to me today having finally got it working. It works like a dream too! Glad its even cleverer if you have multiple machines with tuners in obviously I'm brokering everything to the main desktop but very happy this end! Just curious did you get it to work using the x86 or x64 version? Not tried series record yet though. Best Regards Gareth North
@Gareth North: I used the 64 bit installed but I always install both 32bit and 64bit runtimes on my PCs 'cos you never know when you will need 'em. Series recordings shouldn't be a problem. The series remains configured on the machine it was set up on and isn't moved to the target PC because it moves each individual recording instance soon after it is created. I guess this could be a source of confusion with a setup where there are multiple source machines. The only other issue I can see with my setup is that the satellite tuners in my Living Room PC are HD and the terrestrial tuners in my server are SD so there may be a time where a conflict I hadn't spotted caused a recording that might have been available in HD to be hived off to the backup machine when I'd rather it had hived off another one which was only available in SD. That is how I do it manually but it's obviously too much to ask of what is a comparatively simple software solution.
Hi Guys, I am thinking of doing a reinstall of W10 plus mediacenter. All due of a purchase of two new devices 1) LG OLED65B6V and 2) a XFX Radeon RX460. HEVC and 4K is not stutter free. So a new reinstall might fix it. So, what is the latest version? Regards Robert
