@Gareth North: I never had the problem you mentioned with not being able to run RecordingBroker.exe from the shortcut. Did the changes you made resolve that?

Wondering if someone could point me in the right direction - I have installed the current version of WMC for Win10 (v12) but I am having the same issue with this version that I had with 8.8.1 - I am getting an 'A necessary component of Windows Media Center did not start properly. Restart Windows Media Center.' whenever I try to set up media libraries. I am also unable to set up my tuners, likely for the same reason. I have an HDHomeRun Prime that is otherwise working properly - I have another W7 box that is set up and working. I had to manually set up the HDHomeRun service so I don't think that is the problem - this fixed the issue I had with ehprivjob.exe /OCURDiscovery - this now returns a result listing the tuners. The WMC Receiver, Scheduler and Network Sharing Services are all also running. Any ideas as to what needs to be addressed so that I can complete the install?

    Thanks!

Can I bump this? Still trying to work out how to "reset your settings". According to T-S this should overcome the issue a few others were having were v12 installs correctly but does not launch nor show up in Start Menu. Can't use v8 as I'm on 32-bit. Any help much appreciated.

    Dozkiwi,
You should be able to use the one in the WMC-V8.8.1 file, look for a batch file named ResetSettings.cmd and it should do the trick.

Edit: Thanks for confirming it should work T-S!

    Settings are settings, x86, x64, win 7, win 8, win 10... doesn't matter.

SiliconDust Announcement: XBox One protected channel support!

    From: forum.silicondust.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=119&t=63942

    In the comments:
Seems that there's a light at the end of the tunnel for folks in the US looking for a DRM/cable-card solution on Win 10! :D

    Edit: More info here: facebook.com/HDHomeRun/photos/a.10150470077256522.423029.352857971521/10155067514816522

It seems only live TV is supported at this time, with recording/playback to follow...

HDHomeRun Prime supported on Windows 10 and XBOX plays your protected channels now!

I too just got an email from SiliconDust informing that their HDHomeRun app now supports all protected content channels now on Windows 10 and the XBOX. I updated the HDHomeRun app for Windows 10 Pro anniversary edition and tested it out... it works! I can watch all my cable TV channels now DRM protected as well as unprotected channels. Windows Media Center not needed to watch now. No DVR though. Heres cut and paste of the notice I got:

HDHomeRun brings premium cable TV to XBox One with protected channel support
Today we released premium channel support for XBox One. You can now watch all your subscribed cable TV channels (including protected channels) on your XBox One with a HDHomeRun PRIME CableCARD tuner.

If you have a HDHomeRun tuner the app is free - just search for HDHomeRun on your XBox. The app with automatically detect your HDHomeRun tuner, download the TV guide, and you can start watching TV.

HDHomeRun app on the Windows 10 app store: HDHomeRun

Cable TV support requires a subscription to a USA cable provider and a HDHomeRun PRIME tuner

Thank You, Good job Silicon Dust!

Update: well I might have been happy too soon! I just noticed that a couple of my protected channels on my laptop PC don't play sound, just shows the video. Tried rebooting the HDHomeRun Prime and Cisco box to make sure it was not them. It wasn't. Quirky.
Next I went to install the new HDHomeRun app on my desktop Windows 10 Pro anniversary PC and it fails to play the DRM Protected channels! I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling HDHomeRun. Still does not decode the protected channels on my desktop PC. But it does on my laptop PC. Similar windows 10 pro versions on both PC's but the updates are not the same. So I wonder what's going on with it. Looks like it works on some but not all Windows PC situations. So back to my PowerDVD 16 Ultra for the protected channels.

As I quoted from the SD forum, PC support is limited to a subset of devices with internal screens. External monitors are not currently working with DRM channels.

Ahh, thanks for pointing that out... I missed that point. So then all is normal. It doesn't work with desktop PC's with external screen displays. I don't know why they would cripple it on us that way. I hope they enable it on Android phones and tablets soon.

What app in Windows 10 allows you to watch DRM channels ? IS this a custom HDR app, or is it a Microsoft product (like the ONE TV that is on Xbox one, or what ever it's NON-DVR thing Microsoft calls it).

    Wish Ceton would follow suit...

Still wish we could get DRM channels/Cable cards working in WMC on Windows 10 current version... sigh...

Ah, worthless for about 85% of the users out there... Oh, well.

A computer monitor that is connected via HDMI to a Windows 10 PC should support HDCP (and that is the big worry about security).

That's the big worry about missed income. Security is another thing.

I guess that given now there are 10$ HDMI to VGA adapters (that in theory shouldn't exist), the whole story of a protected DRM path proved futile, hence the restriction to devices with an integrated display only.

    Hi Guys,

Just installed Win 10 upgrade 1607 and trying to reinstall WMC install files again like I did before. Ran the checkrights app as administrator and then the installer app as administrator and thats where it fails to install. Perhaps the old install files when I had 8.1 needs to be cleaned up? Anyone encounter this?

    Thanks

EDIT: SFC /Scannow worked for me. Fixed now. Thanks.

    Hello all,

first forgive me to not reading all 776 pages (it's too much if you can agree, but did search tho, without resolution) :(
second, i have problem and will elaborate. Hope someone can help me.
    1. Have two similar hardware on two PCs. Both with windows 10 x64 with leadtek winfast dv1800 tv cards (hybrid DTV+Analog)
    2. On desktop I did upgrade from win x64 8.1 WMC to Win10Pro, then installed WMC and EVERYTHING is working as should
    3. On HTPC was win8.1 x86 WMC, didn't did upgrade, but instead did clean install of Win10 x64 Pro. Installed WMC, but TV is not working, nor digital nor analog. Setup found no digital programs and found some analog, but no picture or sound showing.
    4. I already did all resets, upgrades of WMC. Tried all versions and no luck :(.
    5. Installed/deinstalled DCA, PlayReady, LAV codecs, DVD PLayer...

    Thanks in advance...

    Smells as a driver problem.

Are the other TV programs working as expected?
