I was replying to Fudsey, but it seems you both have different manifestations of the same problem. HDMI 4x4 Matrix Switcher would eliminate the necessity of working around the sound problem. The setup in the picture gives you sound to each TV (Destination) as well as to the AVR. This is done by using only one output from the video adapter.
I've used standard hdmi splitter - it works but it has its only issues. The device you posted is overkill for my purpose. My other thought was using Chromecast / Google Groups to wireless speakers in liu of audio over hdmi. I have the speakers , just need to spend some time figuring out if I can get WMC to pipe its audio out to Chromecast
Yeah, it's likely overkill for mine as well, sure is sweet though. (anything anywhere or anything everywhere) I think the key is....using a powered HDMI splitter i.e. a splitter that remembers the handshake between the 2 devices that it joins. When I first received the Matrix Switcher, I had been powering the device off. When I turned it on, I had to fiddle with the source and destination. Likely had some of the same issues you and others experience. Someone told me to leave it turned on. The Matrix Switcher has been turned on since 2013...I have not had an issue since. Moving the AVR to the end of the line, rather than in the middle of the chain, eliminated issues as well. The Matrix Switcher makes the system completely idiot proof. Turn on the Source, Destination, and AVR, and it just works. I don't have to remember the order of ON, better yet, I don't have to explain it to anyone using the system.
I'm using MCE 8.8.1 on Win10 AU .693, Avermedia A835 Pro usb tuner, DVB-T channels, from Italy. No problem so far, I don't use pay-tv so all channels are free over-the-air dvb-t. Thank you very much to everybody who made MCE works on Win10, I still thinks it's the best program to watch tv on PC.
Your lucky. I could not get mine to work with my Ceton tuners. So using Kodi with NextPVR plug in and I got to say I am very impressed. Can watch non-drm content no problem. Looks slick. I'm happy.
It looks like Silicon Dust finally updated their Windows 10 DVR app to play DRM content. Works on my PC and laptop now.
Works for me too but the silky sweet smooth video quality of Windows Media Center has not yet been achieved.
Greetings, I really hate having to ask for the help but I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure out why I can;t get this thing running. I have the folling system: Intel NUC5PPYH Intel Pentium N3700 @ 2.4GHz 4 Cores Microsoft Windows 10 (10.0.14393) HDHomeRun Prime (20161117 firmware) HDHomeRun Setup (20161119) HDHomeRun App from Market I have used both Windows Media Center Builds: WMC_6.3.9600.16384_x64_v12.7z WindowsMediaCenter_10.0.10134.0.zip I have tried the following variations on the themes: Clean installs of Windows 10 - So many times I think I see Blue Make sure all drivers are updated Load HDHomeRun Software first, then Install WMC, Run WMC, Run DCA, Run Live TV Setup Load Install WMC first, then HDHomeRun Software, Run WMC, Run DCA, Run Live TV Setup Shutdown WMC, Sleep System, Run WMC, Run Live TV Setup Shutdown System, Run WMC, Run Live TV Setup Etc. So on and so forth. The multiple reinstalls was me trying the variations from the install point. The system does see the HDHomeRun as I can play it with the HDHomeRun App. I have reviewed a number of the posts through the thread but I just can't seem to find anything that is pointing me in the right direction to get this to recognize my HDHomeRun. Thanks in Advance for any help.
14393 prevents cable card tuner recognization in all versions of WMC. Review this thread starting August 2 2015. That was the date of the first public release of 14393. CableCARD and WMC work fine in previous win 10 versions such as 10586.
I half suspected that was the case. Now the hunt begins for a copy of Windows 10 before version 14393.
If you're committed to WMC, you can use the Windows Restore to uninstall the Anniversary Update and get you back to 10586. Or, you can just purchase the Windows DVD Player for $15 and use the latest Windows HDHOMERUN app that now supports DRM - it even supports my old WMC remote control.
For WMC and the HDHOMERUN Prime, you may have to uninstall the Windows (Setup) software and install hdhomerun_windows_20150826.exe first in order to discover the tuner - that's what I've had to do a few times after a rollback. That version works fine with WMC. Just Google it to find one online.
Might want to check the Store. I downloaded from there, it is free and it works with the Store app version of HDHomerun. View is now not part of the name as far as I can tell. Works with DRM channels in AU and above. May have to re-scan for channels to get it to see them. Hope this helps...
It works with a cablecard like the Ceton use to? Namely to view AND record? Is there a phone app that lets you record while you are away on the fly? Thanks!
If this was addressed to me: HDHomerun app only works with SiliconDust tuners as far as I know. It will not record but a separate DVR ($$) from that developer is said to work with DRM recording and playback.
My original old Win7 box is my TV Server. Phenom 2, X4 965 (with a water Kuhler). 8 Gigs Ram. 20 TB storage, 120 GB SSD. AMD Radeon HD 6700. Tuners are Ceton InfiniTV4 plus a HDHR-3CC. I installed Server WMC Version 1.0.0.01 which grabs whatever has been configured in WMC....Tuners, Shared Library's, MyChannelLogo's, EPG, etc. and passes all that to Emby Server Version 3.1.4.0 I can connect to Emby Server from any workstation on the LAN, from any browser, (HTML 5 was installed on the older browsers such as IE10). I also connect via WAN from my Tablets and Phones. Non DRM Live and Recorded TV and Movies are available from anywhere. I am in the Great Lakes Region of USA, and have tested from Vancouver Canada and Bangkok Thailand. It is not necessary to install an Emby Client...All connections are made through a the simple web browser on a phone or tablet. I also connect from Win10 "10586" and "14393". The full EPG Guide is viewable. I can see what has been selected to be recorded, I have not discovered a way to select a show to be recorded. In other words the big red "Record NOW" button is missing. At present I have to use a different app "Ceton My Media Center" which has a "Record NOW" button.....In other words Emby can Stream Live TV but is unable to activate a recording. My Media Center can activate a recording but is unable to stream. Jeff...Try and find Ceton's My Media Center, you can record with that. TeamViewer can also be used. As I recall last spring we used RDP to do the same thing. As I understand it the HomeRun app is not quite ready. I thought the recent news was you can watch...but you cant record. Plex and (I forget the other one) are working towards a DVR plug-in.
Just want to add my experience with this Media Center patch (perfect!): Short version: * Installed Windows 8.1 Pro on a ASRock Z170 ITX motherboard - i5-6500T CPU with Intel HD 530 graphic. * Installed the Intel video driver and the HDHomerun program version 20161119 (I use a HDHomerun HDHR4-2DT in Spain). * Ran the Media Center setup as the instructions (from the command prompt as administrator). All perfect, not a single error! * Found the Media Center icon and ran the setup just like the original program, found the two TV tuners and added all the channels from the HDHomerun box. * Ran the rest of the setup, added the music, pictures, TV shows and movies as I had it in my previous HTPC. * Recording TV programs works as it should, and I'm very very happy (though I had to use some of the other programs I have tested). Long version: I was setting up a new HTPC with a new Windows 8.1 Pro (to be able to add Media Center). I didn't know that Microsoft stopped selling this in October 2015 (as I read here in this thread). Tried an old 2012 free version of the Media Center product key, and to my surprise, it installed perfect! But then the Windows activation mess started, and I had to realize I was lost and couldn't use this version. Have tried other media programs, but haven't been totally happy with them. As somebody mentioned in this thread: "the silky smooth operation" of the Windows Media Center is just something I love to use. Found this thread, registered, downloaded the program and installed it as described above (after a fresh reinstall of Windows 8.1 Pro). Just perfect, and a very good job preparing this setup! Windows 10 was out of the question when I was setting up the new HTPC because of the lack of Windows Media Center (the new one has a HDMI 2.0 to run UHD at 60fps on my TV). So with the successful installation on the new HTPC on Windows 8.1, I thought I should try it on a "Test-PC" I have with Windows 10 (version 1511 Build 10586.494). This was a free upgrade from Windows 7 when that was available. i7-3770K cpu - AMD Sapphire R7 250 video card and a Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3V motherboard (don't know if the hardware is too important for this, but just for your information of the setup). Internet not connected, ran the setup but had an error message. Connected to Internet, restarted and ran the setup again. Perfect! Installed the HDHomerun software and went to the TV signal in Media Center. Everything was Ok and the channels added as expected. One thing I observed while adding the TV channels was that the "Ready Play" software was downloaded Ok. This has always been a problem when adding the TV channels in Media Center using a TV card in the computer (before I had the excellent HDHomerun box). Also, the TV channels loads a lot faster using Media Center than connecting directly to the HDHomerun with the TV, a tablet or a computer. So the HDHomerun box is definitely the way to go if you are using Windows Media Center. The Windows 10 Test-PC just finished adding the TV channels, so a quick test to see if everything was Ok. And it was! All the channels from the HDHomerun were added. Looked at one of the channels, pressed the record button, double checked the recorded program, and I have to say it again: Just perfect! Please not that all the TV channels in my setup are free. I hope some of this information can help others to install this excellent modified software package. Probably not, but if anybody have any questions, I'm ready to help. Omnius
Yes, they really did a fine job of transplanting WMC into Win10. What version # of WMC did you use? You might want to make an image of what you have right now. Also I disabled the update service so I can stay on 10586.0 Yours likely will work on 14393, but you never know what curve balls MS will throw next.
