I'm glad you were able to finally answer your question from a month ago. If you uninstall KB4013198, does that fix WMC? or do you have to un and re-install WMC? Disable windows Update service to prevent all updates..... PERIOD
The only one I still worry about is the MS antivirus. In Win7, even though I had told Win7 not to update, MSE was still able to download critical...Disable Update Service put a stop to that.
The only other thing I can think of is....Open DVBLink Server and look for the update button. The other guy said this worked for him.
Thanks Crash I cleanly forgot about the the files in the package as WMC had been running without any problems for so long. the irony is after installing K-Lite codecs the picture looks much better!
Since moving to LAV via shark007, fast forward of recorded TV in MCE doesn't work. If I try, the show stops playing. Anyone else had this issue and know of a solution?
I'm having the same issue, but it was a different update # for me. Media Center crashes any time I play video, live or recorded. What I have recorded, I can play back in MPC-HC, so not all is lost.
Good. One of these days.... I am going to, use MSToolkit, and remove MS antivirus and a few other things.
@jeff2012 KB4013429 does exactly do the same thing: crash MediaCenter when playing Live-TV When you uninstall it everything works again (it only takes 30 minutes!) But how do you prevent KB updates to be installed whit WUHIDE ? The way I see it you can only prevent hardware driver whit this tool and not windows updates………
Hi guys! I have a problem since yesterday that I tried to use WMC live tv but it constantly crashed. Then I uninstalled and reinstalled but cannot make it work. After several uninstallations and re installations WMC does not even launch anymore. The ehome directory is removed from my windows directory but when I run sfc /scannow (with WMC uninstalled) the directory gets back but WMC not launch. What can I do? I can watch TV via media player classic but it lacks tv recording which is useful for me.
I installed on another W10 machine and there everything works including the guide. Odd. Thx for hints and tips.
Any link please? In my occasion it seems that WMC is not completely removed when I uninstall it as sfc /scannow finds something to repair and it's directory "ehome" in windows folder appears again.
alexnt read from post 7871 on There was no need to reinstall wmc, the problem lies in 2 windows updates and CompPkgSup.dll
When you run WUHIDE there is an option to see which updates are waiting in the background to be downloaded and installed. Once you know the KB update which is problematic you select it to be hidden and Windows will never download it..UNLESS there is a FUTURE new cumulative update which means you have to repeat the procedure.
