Just uninstall the KB4013429 (I don’t know if indeed the KB4013198 does the same, that was not the problem whit our systems (25+) After that Disable windows Update service to prevent all updates just like crash2009 says in his post. At this moment this is the only thing you can do. I think the option that jeff2012 explains whit WUHIDE is not full-proof because when you want to work whit that you MUST continuously check your updates which is very inconvenient off course......... At this time I would just suggest to turn Windows update OFF
By turning WU services off you lose update to Office products too, but if your rig is strictly a MCE rig then turning it off cannot hurt.
I managed to make it work on virtual machine by replacing the 2 CompPkgSup.dll and without uninstalling the KB4013429. The problem on my host machine is that I CANNOT START/OPEN/LAUNCH WMC AT ALL not the live tv specifically. This is due to many uninstalls and re installs of the wmc package, something is corrupted. If I uninstall it the "ehome" directory is still there even after reboot. If I delete it and reboot and the reinstall package, wmc does not start even. I need a way to completely wipe it off system and install it from the beginning so I can start it. I will fix live tv after I manage to start wmc.
I had the same problems yesterday, uninstalled the updates and all was fine again, but overnight, while i was snorring, the pc updated them again so in the morning it was broken again. Then i went for the fix in post 7843, replaced the dll's after taking ownership in safe mode. Works fine again now, hopefully it'll last.
I am trying to get WMC V8.8.1 working with a HDHomeRun Prime and Windows 10 LTSB 2015 (64 bit) but getting "No Signal" on all channels. I did following (1) Installed OS (2) Disabled Windows Update (3) Installed HomeRun software (20150826) (4) Installed WMC V8.8.1 Any suggestions as to why I'm getting "No Signal"? I've tried looking through this thread but a LOT of post!
Yes oke and off course that's a very good fix, but not for "all" people because a lot of people have other problems whit that fix (decode problems) So oke, for you it works, but for other one it does not :-( So it's a choice I’m afraid.........
I'm not sure they will provide a fix: if you open "Films & TV" app, you'll find a new version with a changelog message indicating that it will be needed to download a new extension to watch MPEG-2 files (10 Creator's update required). We'll probably have to wait for the new OS. So you have 2 choices : replace Comppkgsup.dll files with previous version, or disable Media Foundation M$ DTV-DVD codecs preffering LAV Filters.
Some people paid for real the DVD app player, which is still for sale. The legally must provide a fix.
With 8/8.1, some other paid for WMC too and it disappeared with 10... DVD App Player was free for those who migrated from 7 and 8/8.1 with WMC, and has a lot of inconvenients (freewares such VLC or MPC HC work better), and a lot of computers especially laptops don't have DVD drive anymore. But I totally agree with you. Just wait and see...
I migrated From 8.1 + WMC from three different PCs (Pro + WMC both all legit keys), non of them obtained the free DVD player app. MPEG-2 is still used a lot in a lot of media. AND, their Film & TVs app sucks a lot like groove.
How can we prevent KB013429 from getting installed automatically again in Windows 10? And how can we turn WU off in Windows 10?
Yep, that's it. But the replacement of the two CompPkgSup.dll might also help you, try them first because that much easier ;-)
Is there any difference between dism and non-dism based wmc? Is one better than the other? Why can't I install the dism based anymore on my system? I had the latest but after uninstalling it and tried to reinstall it gave error about dism(0x800f0922).
