Three of the ones I looked at are 1709 Build 16299.64 and two of those are currently running WMC - one has a quad DVB-T2 card and one has two DVB-S2 cards.

The other two are test machines, which have DVB-T cards and were running 1709 with WMC until this morning but are currently in the process of updating to the latest insider build of 1709.

I'll do a test reinstall of WMC on them before a new version is due to hit my 'production' PCs.

can't get WMC to start on these since they upgraded to the new insider build (17046).

No problem joining a workgroup here BTW.
edit: Windows 7,8,10 all talk to each other fine although since 1709, I do have to set the function discovery host and publication services to automatic to see them in network though.

 

Paint 3D cannot load:

I have an odd situation.. I cannot load Paint 3D, when I click on the icon, nothing happens. Then I had to reset the app, first time it worked. I was away from my PC for 30 minute,
then I tried clicking on Paint 3D app again, nothing happened. I had to reset the app again just to use it. Seems like every time I need to use it, I have to reset the app over & over
again.. Not sure why this is happening.. Is there a hotfix that can fix this bug?

 

I found that trying to figure out a workaround using a cable card is not worth the time especially because my cable TV provider Spectrum Formerly Known As Time Warner Cable offers the ability to stream channels from their website. As a result I used an app that I paid 20 bucks for once called play on which acts as a media server and streaming video DVR.. problem solved.

 

Has anyone made the hex edit on the ehshell.dll file with version 6.3.9600.16384 to disable the high resolution warning? I could only find the hex edit for 6.1.7601.18968 and 6.1.7601.19061. Thanks in advance.

After the update to 1709 I can no longer use my PCIe tuner, only my USB one. Media Center will open but will stop finding tuners as soon as it tries to use that one. If I disable it or remove it the USB tuner works fine on its own. I had to roll back as nothing I did would allow it to work with that tuner, and I don't want to go back to just a single tuner.

 

If i set my resolution to 3840x2160 WMC complains about high resolution. I have tried the registry change (and changing permissions so the system can't edit the value) and it still complains. I also tried ModernMedia UI (which I believe just makes the registry change as well) and it also complains.

Any other ideas or things I can try? I am running my system at 1080p on my 4K TV because if I set the system to 4k and WMC to 1080p, I have to use scaling in the display settings (set to 200%) otherwise text outside WMC is too small. Using scaling in the system and WMC set to 1080p I still get complains about a high resolution. The only way I have been able to completely get rid of the warnings is to run WMC and my system at 1080p.

Was running TBS6285 (quad dvb-t2) just upgraded to TBS6209 (octa dvb-t2).
cant get past 4 tuner limit. MCE sees all tuners but wont configure the last 4.
tried Tuner Salad Footlong ver 1.0
tried ceton_infinitv_setup_w8_13_06_03_1088 (windows 8 compatibility), ceton_infinitv_setup_w7_sp1_13_06_03_1088 would not run, even with compatibility on.

Any suggestions?

hi crash,
you run a program called TBS6209ChangeModeTool.exe, you choose the standard you are using, dvb-t/t2, it then writes this info into the card.
All tuners are then set to this standard.

I tried the trial version of the big epg, that worked but i cannot justify spending money on that when cetons drivers remove the limit with their products, plus the bank account is now empty lol.
I was hoping there was a known regedit that could be done.

 

From the sound of things....this puts us back to manufacturer supplied software...i.e. :"driver"

The driver attempts to register the change in the firmware of the card, but the change is incomplete.....resulting in half the tuners (4) are set to the DVB-C Standard

Does the tuner software have a "Factory Reset" function?

Does the tuner card have a factory defect?

Either way....it appears to be factory design flaw...software or hardware...ChangeModeTool is unable to change 4 of the tuners. As you say, "other software" will make the change. From my side of the fence, this points to.... factory driver flaw.

Could also be Win10 (2016) as I recall we had to use DVBLink Server Version 6.0 to enable CableCard tuners in WMC.

3-) use DVBLink Server V 6.0 with Win10 (2016)

its a mce setting, all tuners are available and are seen, nothing wrong with the driver.
i guess ceton owners are lucky that their drivers turns off the tuner limit in mce.
has no one reverse engineered their drivers or found out how tuner salad or the big epg does it?

yup got that, its a bit more in depth than just that
i have used the ceton driver in win 7 mce and it works but not with mce in win 10
