oes the encryption have a name over there? Like over here they call it digital Rights Management DRM for short and the specific software that is used to encrypt it is called play Ready
Ah, I haven't tried v11 yet. I'll check out this version. Just sucks that we get no MS Store and can't update windows. Kind of impossible to install nVidia drivers without having Windows updated. lol
Hi, New member, long time reader and lurker. I need your help please. I am in the UK using a USB 2 tuner Freeview card. WMC work fine, except for some fix I did back in the mists of time to kill off some endless ehtray pop up, but it was so long ago, I have no idea what that fix was. So I'm waaaay back on 1511. I've had a look at my C/WMC folder. Files are dated 2016, I know for sure the installer I used altered the DISM but the install .bat seemed to invoked xcopy in places. I simply MUST update to 1709 now and get that new build locked down with WU shut down and locked out in services, tasks and the registry before the Spring Update drops. However, I have no idea on best practice for updating the OS and then reapplying WMC. It has been so long since I did this. Do I simply install 1709 and once installed run the uninstaller.cmd I have and then reinstall.cmd? That way, if I roll back to 1511, everything will still work... Do I crudely copy the folders out of the system I have? Do I need a new/modded version of any installer?, tbh, I have no idea which version I'm using already! Is there a *best* installer? If so which one and where? Are there extra mandatory scripts required? I have huge library of recorded TV, going way back to Win 7 and 8, & 8.1. I need these still to play! Best advice please. I have read as much as I can but over 400 pages and some data here is not helpful in my instance. Regards and great work everyone. Timelord.
But is this working on build 17650 using an HDHomeRun with cablecard, as those were broken after the anniversary patch? And if so, could you please explain? Thank you kindly.
I have read every single page and every single post and I still have issues, so don't feel so bad. It took me days to do it and I learned a lot but for some reason my 1511 build still has issues with a cablecard, and I'll need to update anyway because my nVidia drivers will not install without an update, and without the nVidia drivers the DRM channels will not work.. /sigh I may just go back to Windows 7.. ick..
we are dealing with a new play Ready and a new hdcp. I don't think WMC is ready for those two. I use August 2015 software for my hdhr-3CC. The driver for my AMD video card I think that is 2011. Try an older Nvidia driver pre 2016 a driver that works with the old hdcp uninstall play Ready from programs and features and installed the older version available in my signature I don't remember what kind of tuner you have probably a homerun downgrade the software back to August 2015
You don't have to read the whole book to get today's news.... Go back to about April 5 2015 most of your questions are answered. Quote the guys that have it working and ask them directly. My advice would be do not upgrade upgrades are always a mess and trying to go back is even Messier. If you really got to have this 1709 put it on a separate Drive Do the right thing download it and install it fresh.
I am after the latest build for Windows 10 and the pro version. Where can I get this? I want to see if my desktop and laptop are fully compatible. Desktop is running ASUS Sabertooth p67 i5 2500k and laptop is a Dell xps L502.
Look up right above your name there's a little button there that says Windows 10 I think you might find some in there
