Update to my last post. I installed the Media Center Decoder Utility first then the "WindowsMediaCenter_6.3.9600.0_x64_v2" and it installed without a problem. I am going to set a recording for latter to see if the wake timers work. Thanks again.
Awesome work! What do you guys think the odds are of getting encrypted channels to work? My cable provider encrypts all channels other than the locals, so the primary reason I want to stick with media center is for that. So far everything is running great with the local channels, but with encrypted channels I get "System Files Modified: Critical Windows Media Center files that are required for video playback have been replaced." Hopefully a fix will come soon!
Yeah after looking at previous posts, I see others are not having an issue with protected content. No idea how to fix it though, I've tried everything posted. I have installed the Media Feature Pack, I have used the media center decoder utility and ensured the mictosoft dtv decoders are set. I have even uninstalled LAV filters and reinstalled media center, and still the same error occurs. Frustrating.
Hi, Just tested last version with WMC 6.3.9600 (France, Windows 10 x64) : - All works, but there is still an error when EPG guide is downloading ("Guide couldn't be downloaded"), but Icon appears in taskbar (right-click : guide coulsn't be downloaded, will retry later"). - All language files are dead, you need to edit ehsres.dll to get your language.
just launch mcupdate as administrator during the initial setup. About MUIs, you need the ones from w8.1, thake them from the w8.1 iso
Hi, No pb for Mui files, I know how to edit them, it's done. For guide, I completely reseted my settings, ran mcupdate as admin, doesn't work. I should miss something.
Does anyone know about the language packs for these new builds, will they work or do we need new ones?
Sure. But for the average user is surely quicker to open a folder with 7zip and to copy some files in the right place. I just wrote it. You need the MUIs taken from the win8.1 iso or from the language pack for it.
hi, You'll have to catch those from Windows 8.1 ISO, or : 1- copy en-US folder and rename it with your lang code (ex fr-FR) 2- Edit ehsres.dll : import String text content from previous release text and import it (with Reshack for example), and then modify MUI en-US to correct code using HexEdit. 3- Put back your created folder in eHome directory, and that's it.
Since I can't seem to find a solution myself, anyone have any idea why I would be getting the issue "System Files Modified: Critical Windows Media Center files that are required for video playback have been replaced"? It only happens on protected content, local channels run fine. If I could get that issue resolved this would be perfect
Hi guys, first I wanna thank everyone involved in this great effort, I've used the last few installers and everything works fine, with the latest (the one from win 8.1) the guide also works (I'm in Italy), but there's a common problem in every version I've tried: if I fast forward while watching tv, for a few seconds everything works, but then suddenly the sound stutter and then disappears (video works fine) and the only way to fix is to maximize/restore or to restart media center. I tried with a few different audio/video codecs using MCDU but nothing... Anybody else has this problem?
You can use 7zip to drag the folders in the right place. This way the files permission aren't retained, but looks like they aren't so important.
Hello, Uninstalled WMC, rebooted, deleted all previous settings, ran first setup TV screen, launched mcupdte.exe as administrator just before agreement consentment, and guide didn't download (same error, guide not available, try later). I created a rule in Firewall to accept Web connexion of mcupdte.exe. I get up, no matters, maybe this guide is no more available in France. Any French user can confirm or infirm please ? Congratulations for the job done, it's nice to have TV back in Windows 10 !!!
First of all, THANK YOU to everyone involved in the project. That said.. When I first downloaded the WMC port this past weekend, I had the same problem as everyone else - no guide data. Live TV worked, I was able to record by providing a Start and Stop time, it just had no guide data. To everyone in the same situation as I am - using an InfiniTV CableCARD device in the USA - I now I have Guide Data! I ended up deleting my ehome directory (C:\Windows\ehome), three files would not delete due to permission errors, no matter what I tried. I finally just decided to ignore it. I ran the uninstall a few times just because, rebooted, restarted the whole installation process, re-installed my Ceton TV Diagnostic Utility (Windows 8.1 version). Here's the thing, though. When I went to run my Digital Cable Adviser in my Extras Library, it was gone. I did find it in the Extras Gallery, it wanted me to download and install it, which did nothing. I Googled it, and found a way to manually install it. THAT worked, it then appeared in the Extras Library. After running this, as you know the next step is to run the Ceton InfiniTV Tuners Wizard. Unfortunately, it was nowhere to be found, not in the Extras Library where it should've been. Instead, I went ahead to the setup Live TV option. That, was apparently good enough. I was able to put in my own Zip Code and not have to fool with a thread where users had reported their zip codes as actually working. My guide data does work, now. I'm going to attempt scheduling a recording and and we'll see what happens, but I'm going to assume that this isn't an issue. I did not have to run any manual mcupdate command. I'll come check out the thread for any updates. @DavidinCT I'm interested in seeing your results. I think we use the same tuner (Ceton InfiniTV 6 ETH).
So far so good, Last night it got late when I was going to try it. SO I did a quick test, and So far it by passed the other issues I have been having. Guide came down fine. I had a tuner issue so I had to pop out (sharing one tuner "6" and that tuner didn't show), I will fix and re-try after work today. AWESOME guide data !
