Hi, tested V3, still guide DL problem in my case. Tested in an old Windows 7 PC, it downloads without any problem...
No thanks, it takes too much time to reinstall all my programs, I did it twice during my first tests and now all works fine except this, so if it's really the only solution I prefer to stay without EPG guide. I just wanted to know why it doesn't work in my case. Maybe something wasn't correctly deleted when I uninstalled the precedent versions (I tested them all) but for V3 I succeeded to completely remove eHome folder... Where are Media center settings and EPG guide related data stored ? EDIT : I made this morning a restore point before I installed the new version. I'll try this evening. But since I did respect all the different steps (proper desinstallation via admin command, reboot, installation via admin command, run mcupadte.exe as admin at the first TV screen config, redownload of play ready runtimes), I'm note sure it will work.
Check your first run log (PRogramdata\Microsoft\ehome\logs), see if there is any tips there. After upgrading to this version I had the same problem. I noticed EPG not available (new error from the past) a few lines after my zip code I put in. Check the line after your Zip that starts with "Download result for package 'EpgLineups' " If it says not available, try other fixes. I edited my hosts file with 65.55.186.113 data.tvdownload.microsoft.com 72.246.56.59 cdn.epg.tvdownload.microsoft.com Then rebooted, tried again with no problems. I also have a Windows 7 Dedicated WMC HTPC on my network that always had -0- problems getting guide data, it was something on my 10 machine. If you see that error, then you can follow the lists of other fixes for "guide issues".
Given it is not installed officially, likely, a simple in place upgrade can fix your problem, no need to reinstall anything other than W10 and WMC
After letting Windows do a reinstall when I ran the _TestRights as admin & that works, but when I run Installer as admin the black screen comes up for a second or two and goes away and that is all I get. I noticed I don't have a ehome folder in Windows, should there be one there?
Just for info, here is the log file of first run : <FirstRunModule t="15:14:10" Name="TvSignal"> <NavigateTo t="15:14:10" Page="FR.ConfirmRegion.xml" Nav="Forward" /> <SelectRegion t="15:14:17" Region="FR" UsedDefault="True" /> <NavigateTo t="15:14:17" Page="FR.EnterZip.xml" Nav="Forward" /> <EnterZip t="15:14:27" PostalCode="06200" /> <NavigateTo t="15:14:27" Page="fr.termsofservice.xml" Nav="Forward" /> <GuideTOSAgreed t="15:14:34">True</GuideTOSAgreed> <NavigateTo t="15:14:34" Page="FR.DownloadUpdates.xml" Nav="Forward" /> <DownloadUpdates t="15:14:36">Download result for package 'ClientUpdate': NotAvailable</DownloadUpdates> <DownloadUpdates t="15:14:36">Download result for package 'EpgLineups': NotAvailable</DownloadUpdates> <NavigateTo t="15:14:39" Page="fr.noepgprovider.xml" Nav="Forward" /> <NavigateTo t="15:14:41" Page="fr.termsofservice.xml" Nav="Back" /> <GuideTOSAgreed t="15:14:50">True</GuideTOSAgreed> <NavigateTo t="15:14:50" Page="FR.DownloadUpdates.xml" Nav="Forward" /> <DownloadUpdates t="15:14:52">Download result for package 'ClientUpdate': NotAvailable</DownloadUpdates> <DownloadUpdates t="15:14:52">Download result for package 'EpgLineups': NotAvailable</DownloadUpdates> <NavigateTo t="15:14:54" Page="fr.noepgprovider.xml" Nav="Forward" /> <LogData t="15:14:56">AddRecorderThread: Creating new RecorderThread</LogData> <LogData t="15:14:56">AddRecorderThread: adding recorder to thread 66f15a62-86fd-4cff-909e-155eacdd592a T14BR Digital TV Tuner</LogData>
same problem i had. i uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times before it worked..and a reboot. yes there should be one.it means its not installed.
See my post (last page), try adding that to your hosts file and reboot. This is NOT the issue with this install, thsi would be a standard guide issue. Mine would show downloaded but, never show up before...and my WIndows 7 machine on my network had -0- issues getting guide..
Does Installer install the ehome directory? Forget that. "Run _TestRights.cmd script as administrator if another command prompt window is opened, then close it and proceed to step 2)" That did not work so I left the command prompt open and ran Installer and it worked.
I had trouble getting the guide. So I did this and it worked with v3: Deleted ehome folder in ProgramData\Microsoft\ehome In task manager, I had to end Windows Media Center Receiver Service to delete that folder. Added to hosts file: 65.55.186.113 data.tvdownload.microsoft.com 72.246.56.59 cdn.epg.tvdownload.microsoft.com Flushed DNS at admin command prompt: ipconfig /flushdns Ran WMC setup again and guide is working
So using v3 of the installer. Live TV Setup, it tells me "You must set up TV from the Windows Media Center PC. Then Close and Restart your Extender Session". Everything is fresh untouched, brand new. US, Ceton InfiniTV. Any thoughts?
@aly, Thanks for the tip, but it didn't work. I give up ! If Graznok is in the corner, did you do something particular after uninstalling previous versions of WMC, or did you start from fresh installatiion ? thks.
