There was a problem downloading WMC-V13 from my new website. I have fixed the problem by saving them as zip files rather than 7zip. Seems the web server didn't like them (which is fine by me because I didn't either).
Question: I am running Win 10 ver. 1511 and WMC ver. 8.1 and it is working fine. Is there any reason to change anything or update to a new version? If so is there a post to follow?
I don't think there's anything you need to worry about as all of the changes made have been to fix issues that are due to problems caused by later versions of Windows.
Hey guys, today I have updated to Windows 10 Pro version 1903 build 18362.356 and It says your data stays in tact. Everything is OK, but Media Center is gone. Can't install my last build 8.8.1. Anyone can help?
That's an excellent idea. @lachape_one contacted him a while ago for one of the 8.8.x versions and he was fairly reactive
Microsoft broke that functionality in WMC some time back I'm afraid. You will need to turn off 'Retrieve CD album art, media information ……. from the internet' in settings, general, automatic download options and use Windows Media Player to download the information.
I don't need this anyway because all my MP3's have correct tags including album arts etc. Thanks a lot.
or you could try my versions of dll's, No one else has confirmed if it works for them or not!! As it also does movie cover art for the tv guide https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...ible-alternatives.61061/page-483#post-1547249
Nope. as I said before, I can't enable metadata downloads in WMC even with the same DLLs you have. Haven't been able to do that for years. I'm at a loss.
You never replied saying that you tried my versions of DLL's or if you tried or When I get some free time i will test the software/tweeks i have installed on a clean install, unless you want a list of what i have installed???
I don't want to use ModernMedia UI. I didn't ask for more details because I don't play music or DVDs with WMC (or Media Player for that matter) so it doesn't matter to me whether metadata downloads are on or off. I've also been pretty busy with other things. However, as part of my investigations into all the issues that people have, I have tried it with every recent version of Windows 10 (including 32bit) and every version of those DLLs I have. My conclusion was that replacing the DLLs made no difference. In any case, I don't believe that the DLLs we are changing are used for music, only for video.
