I don't think there's anything you need to worry about as all of the changes made have been to fix issues that are due to problems caused by later versions of Windows.

Hey guys, today I have updated to Windows 10 Pro version 1903 build 18362.356 and It says your data stays in tact. Everything is OK, but Media Center is gone. Can't install my last build 8.8.1. Anyone can help?

That's an excellent idea. @lachape_one contacted him a while ago for one of the 8.8.x versions and he was fairly reactive :D

It's working fine but crushes every time while trying to play music. Need to install something more?

Microsoft broke that functionality in WMC some time back I'm afraid.

You will need to turn off 'Retrieve CD album art, media information ……. from the internet' in settings, general, automatic download options and use Windows Media Player to download the information.

I don't need this anyway because all my MP3's have correct tags including album arts etc. Thanks a lot.

Nope. as I said before, I can't enable metadata downloads in WMC even with the same DLLs you have. Haven't been able to do that for years. I'm at a loss.

I don't want to use ModernMedia UI.

I didn't ask for more details because I don't play music or DVDs with WMC (or Media Player for that matter) so it doesn't matter to me whether metadata downloads are on or off. I've also been pretty busy with other things.

However, as part of my investigations into all the issues that people have, I have tried it with every recent version of Windows 10 (including 32bit) and every version of those DLLs I have. My conclusion was that replacing the DLLs made no difference. In any case, I don't believe that the DLLs we are changing are used for music, only for video.

the last windows update has broken live tv and recorded file playback in WMC, WMP is ok. WMC still recorded ok.
on my system the following were changed to c:\windows\system32\CPFilters.dll 10.0.18362.418 & MSVidCtl.dll 6.5.16299.15
I used wmc_multi_tool.cmd and close option 1 but it only replaced 1 file, CPFilters.dll .
This worked though, thanks again technodevotee
how come it only replaced 1 fille?

The KB4517389 was installed on my machine yesterday and I can confirm the CPFilters.dll in System32 was updated. Luckily, it has no impact on those who use 8.8.4 (that embeds its own copy of CPFilters.dll).

@Kévin Chalet, I am using 8.8.4 on one of my PCs with the DLLs you provide in ehome and the latest versions of DLL in system32. A recent update broke WMC and I had to roll back CPFilters in system32 to fix it. Others have reported similar problems.

What I don't understand is why it is different for different people? Maybe it depends on what came before?

@Bigal, You are still using V8.8.3 aren't you?

But are you are still using the original version of WMC Multi Tool?

The latest WMC Multi Tool only replaces one DLL at a time so you know what fixed it.
