thanks for all your suggestion. I renamed C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\PlayReady to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\PlayReady old and now live TV starts instantly !
So this just plain doesn't work. Anytime I try to setup live tv, I IMMEDIATLY get a message saying no tuners found even though I installed the HD homerun drivers and can watch TV using their app just fine. What am I doing wrong? there doesn't seem to be a workaround for WMC doesn't even bother trying to see your tuners
The hd home run setup has a setting that says if you want to configure it for media center of another application, although I never seen any difference whichever option I picked, but it might be different for you
What version did you install? Check the version of MSVidCtl.dll you have. It must be 16299 or earlier, not same build of your W10/11/server you are running. Eventually fix it either manually or using WMC_multi_tool
Where can I get this multi tool? a search for it bring me to another thread here and the link there doesn't work
I'm using WMC 8.8.5 so shouldn't it already have the right dll versions? But the very latest version of windows 10
Did you bother to launch the file I shared? first option is there to spoon that info, which is something you can do by yourself with few click of mouse anyway.
Cable Cards don't work in WMC on Windows 10 after 1511 because the DRM mechanism they need was removed. Yes. 8.8.5 puts a required version of the DLLs in the ehome folder, so WMC Multi Tool wouldn't really help with that version.
The most obvious solution is use Windows 10 LTSB2015 (supported until 2025) Alternatively use Win 10 1511/Server 2016 Tp4 (last update October 2018) or use Win 8.1 (supported until 2023, maybe later via ESU) or use win 7 (supported, via ESU, until 2023, maybe 2024) Or even Win Vista (supported, via Server 2008 ESU until 2023)
Hardlinks all the way, even the 32-bit dlls in the GAC which for some reason were not in 8.8.5 and had copies of the libraries. There is a log file in the folder where you install it that shows everything the installer does after extracting the files to the drive.
Nice to hear that. Good job! P.S. Due to some busy days I have not tested personally, so I'm just guessing, but I'm afraid that the non standard path could break the ability to mod the EPG grid look using My Channels Logos. It mods Microsoft.MediaCenter.Shell.dll, and I guess it expects blindly, that the file is in its original path...
No, that will still work, though the EPG123 Client can allow you to change the layout any way you like (# rows, #columns, font size, row height, logo sizes). It is very dynamic. Just click the [Tweak WMC] button. MCL will still work because I put a directory junction in the windows folder to your installation path. As far as MCL knows, the file is located exactly where it has always been.
