What "this"? MSU is useless on non N versions WMC works perfectly in any windows version from Win 8.1 to the latest Win 11
i couldnt put the link you posted, i was referring to media feature pack, but i think i manage to install it, again cant post the link for now
Hi Guys, Not sure if this is the right place for this question so please move/delete if necessary. I've been using this version of Media player on Win 10 for some years now and it works really well, so thanks for that! I have recently moved my movies from my HTPC (with WMC) to a NAS and was hoping to watch/stream those movies over the network. I've mapped a network drive and added it to the Movies library in WMC. I have a mix of 1080 and 2160p movies. 2160p playback over ethernet is fine in VLC but when I try to play them in WMC it stutters terribly and is unwatchable. Any idea how/if I can fix this? Thanks! Nick.
Well dang, WMC in Windows 10 2015 LTSB see's my OTA HDHomeRun tuners but does not see my Prime for cablecard tuners.
Graznok could you help us with version 6.3.9600.16384 of ehshell.dll? Would be nice to finally get rid of that high resolution pop up. If that's not something you don't have time to do now, could you give us some pointers what tool to use to find the correct address?
I suppose only people running the 1511 or older version of Windows 10 might be able to help, but here goes.... Anyone know how to bypass the "activate digital cable" for CableCards? I get to that screen but it fails to connect to the Internet to activate the digital key. Digital cable advisor is happy. PlayReady is happy. I just cannot get this to activate! If I try to skip it, I just get this error when viewing a channel.
Thanks. Yes, I've already tried it and these other files: digitalcableadvisorsetup_x64.msi ResetDRM PlayReadyPC_x64.msi OverrideDigitalCableAdvisor.cmd
I'm really hoping it's something screwy on my end and that MS hasn't turned off activation of digital cable (for protected content) for everyone.
The most obvious conclusion is that they turned down an activation server, just like they did with other WMC related servers. Seem strange that you're the first one to notice that, but I guess there is always someone who's the first If I were you I would install a parallel system on a native VHD(x) or a separate partition, using an officially supported system like ThinPC/win 7/8, just to rule out any problem raised by recent mods in the WMC installer or by your current installation itself. Also try to uninstall what you installed and use the original 8.8.1 installer by T-S which is surely working on 1511 (following mods are meant for 1803+, there CC were doomed anyway) .
Now that you mention it, these were Win7 and Win8.1 VM's I've been trying to get going. I'm installing Win7 on a standalone box right now to test with. I've never been able to get 1511 to "see" my HDHomeRun Prime cablecard tuner. It'll see my OTA tuners fine but never sees my cablecard tuner. Not even when using the super-old driver hdhomerun_windows_20150826.exe
That shouldn't be a problem, If you ran the "media center recovery task" the old data form 7/8.x shouldn't be a problem Ok, let us know what happens I assume 1507/10240 has the same result, right? That said I'm on the other side of the ocean, so I never touched a cable card tuner in my life, so it's hard to guess what the problem could be, but I would start trying to replace MSVidCtl.dll with the one taken from w8.1. In the worst case you loose the OTA tuner as well, if you are lucky CC start working or at least will be listed as available tuner. Whatever.... Remember that W7/8.1 will be supported for years trough ESU so if your HTPC is just an HTPC there is really no point using W10 W10 makes sense on situations (like mine) where my home server isn't just an HTPC, but also a router, a VM Host, deduplicated SMB server, and so on. Some of those things works way better in W10, or were unavailable at all on older Windows, or when WMC is used on client machines that needs to be updated for other reasons. Obviously I have no idea about your usage pattern...
Tath makes sense as well. V12 (by Abbodi) is the closest thing to an official installation, being DISM based, although the cleaner method backfired when W10 evolved and diverged over older releases V.8.8.1 by T-S (and derivatives) proved to be way more practical and resilient to Window updates, but may be missing some bits given both Abbodi and T-S (AFAIK) are both non US citizens, so their (official) test installations may have lacked few registry entries or alike.
