Sometimes a nice hot shower (and more coffee) is all that's needed to clear one's head. I got to thinking, what is the one thing 2 PC's on the same network have in common? Their IP address. So on the torrent box I fired up the VPN and re-ran the MC setup again. This time no error message was displayed about downloading the Guide. It has now finished the setup and there it is, my Guide! So, is it possible that after so many attempts the Guide server blocks an IP from further attempts?
I think I may have tried that, but might be more related to when I was trying to get the guide to work. So good tip either way!
So this seems to be more of a region issue than an IP issue. I pulled the tuner out of the torrent box and put it back in the main PC. Using my VPN I tried 2 different North American IP's, one in the US and one in Canada. Neither one would work and the Guide d/l failed. I then picked an IP from the Netherlands and the Guide downloaded. So for now anyway it appears things are okay, I'm just concerned with what will happen when the Guide needs its first update. Any thoughts on this from the gurus out there?

Thank you so much! "Powercfg /waketimers" shows the scheduled recording and wakes my pc up at the right time!
I set up everything correctly. The guide shows up. However, when I turn to any channel, I get: "Service is Unavailable, There is currently no TV signal detected for this channel. The channel may be temporarily off the air. Try again later."
It was a quick gasp of excitement then realizing I selected Pivot instead of FXX. Lol No it instantly goes to System Files Modified. But its progress imho to know that the actual Microsoft codecs are getting used. As I said its either one of two things. 1. It seems Microsoft codecs are being used but are not the ones WMC expects (different hashes obviously). or 2. It detects that the WMC underlining files have been modified and presents this message. The quick play back may just be determined of the speed of the device trying to play the format. If it can check before it plays then there you have it. I sometimes get a blip of audio.
Doesn't seem to work for me I get this when I open MCL. "The invocation of the constructor on type 'My_Channel_Logos.MainWindow' that matches the specified binding constraints threw an"
I tried to add an extender, an Xbox 360 actually, and while it sets it up correctly, you can't connect to it, checking the event viewer, this is what it says.
Are we missing a scheduled task from a working machine ? Seems like there is a file that does not have the correct permissions to create the task. That needs to be addressed before an Extender will work.
