It works, it just works! :'D Damn I feel 20 years younger already Now, would it be possible to send modern digital TV through that BNC connector? Thing is, there is no smartcard inside that HP computer, so I guess its only for "old" DVB-T TV?
I don't know if I've the correct installer, kudos for you, I'll try my best, because my installer not worked. Thank you
The menu seems to work but I haven't tried if these settings have an effect (I've never used this thing)
Ok. I like to keep my speaker setup in Windows as 5.1 so that I get surround sound from Switch emulator and other games into my receiver. That has a side effect though when speakers are set as 5.1 in Windows then TV channels that have dolby does not play anymore in WMC. If Dolby Decoder is enabled in WMC then everything works fine.
Quick question if i may, bit difficult to read all previous 544 pages...i installed 8.8.5 on a brand new super pc and i'm having some problems, specially a very long delay when i go to live tv or start watching a recording. Like it takes a small minute to actually get to playing. I see there is a 8.8.7 version, would that be solved in that version? Just asking as losing all channel info and recording scheduling is always a pain so i thought i'd ask first.
It's caused by PlayReady and it seems to be an extremely common issue lately... probably related to the fact the servers it uses to manage its crypto keys are no longer accessible. If you're not watching protected TV and don't need to watch protected recordings, you can fix that by simply removing PlayReady from your machine.
Interesting, thanks Kevin, i did have a windows 11 pc before but didn't have that problem then, but that pc broke down. I am watching and recording from alphacrypt encoded channels but my hardware adapter should take care of that i think, i'll try with removing playready.
Oh my...removed playready, instantly solved....i've been fiddling with this for days. Kevin, if we ever meet, drinks are on me mate, thanks.
Haha, glad it worked! (note: installing 8.8.7 could be useful if you decided to install Windows 11 24H2 from scratch - rather than updating from a previous version - as 24H2 no longer includes the Dolby Digital codecs, as discussed recently here)
Background lurker here; I'm also suffering delay(s) with the startup of recorded programs. Seems to be intermittent in behaviour, sometimes not occuring other times there seems to be 10~20sec delay before starting a recorded show. (I don't bother watching live TV so I'm not sure if it occurs in this situation.) I've looked to see if there's an installed "PlayReady" or similar program (via good old Control Panel!) but haven't spotted anything obvious. Are there other ways PlayReady may have become installed during my fiddles with various versions of WMC installers (both your's and GaRyan2's). (The system in question was initially built using Windows 11 Pro a year or so ago and is currently running WMC 8.8.7 & current EPG123 if that's of any help.) Any clues would be appreciated!
I updated Win11 to 24H2 which naturally broke my WMC again so i installed 8.8.7 now. And of course uninstalled playready to solve the delay issue. All is working except recording settings...i can click on a show in the tv guide and schedule recording but nothing really gets recorded, and if i check the planned recordings the list is empty. Does this one ring a bell? *edit* Even hit the record button manually doesn't seem to actually record so it would seem i can't record anything anymore on Win 11 24H2 8.8.7
You don't mention whether you can watch any channels live. If you can, then the recorders are probably disabled in WMC. Edit the channel sources and verify your tuners are checked/enabled.
Yes live tv actually worked, scheduling a recording didn't. (You could have deducted that from the sentence "All is working except recording settings") I now uninstalled WMC again and reinstalled 8.8.5 Blue, scanned for my channels again (always a hour or so task that), live tv works and i can schedule recordings again! But now i have no sound on HD channels...never free of problems...i know there is a dolby fix or so mentioned here recently, i'll read back. Problem is i can't reboot now, doing harddisk reconfigs + backups of all stuff to external disks, but i'll survive waiting. (edit, no sound on HD channels issue is now also solved)
