WMP is not the problem, it's ServerWMC, that runs as a service and uses the MSVidCtl.dll version from System32, so it's loaded very early. Reinstalling VC++ won't fix anything: try to temporarily replace the MSVidCtl.dll in System32 by an older version (e.g the one you can find under C:\Windows\eHome) to see if it helps.
weird how rebooting several times had been ok but decides to give WMC errors after I tried WMP lol. I have stopped ServerWMC from running at boot, I rebooted and WMC shows no errors. I have now copied the MSVidCtl.dll from ehome to system32, renabled ServerWMC and rebooted and all is ok. Thanks for the help Kevin
Note that it's unlikely to survive major Windows updates - and will be reverted by sfc /scannow if you run it - so you may have to do it again at some point Cheers
noted everyone knows what to do now, well the people who didnt know before lol, i guess Martin and i were the only ones that didnt know, he prob figured it out.
A better fix would consist in patching ServerWMC (and the other software affected) to use an embedded copy of MSVidCtl.dll that isn't affected, exactly like how it's done for WMC itself (that uses its own MSVidCtl.dll since 8.8.2). If there's enough demand, I'll probably take a look at some point
I read all your stuff, i really want to try your tvheadend setup as im fed up with Microslop and forcing, AI, TPM tracking etc etc on the masses.
Many Thanks Kevin and Bigal for your help. I removed now serverwmc from autostart and don't use it all since I use KODI only for viewing recorded films and link to them via smb links instead of serverwmc. Kind regards. Martin
Thanks should go to Kevin Some channels that i have deleted now reappear. I use epg123, the channels were in the restore list but aren't now , any ideas?
I just got a taskbar notification, recorder failure, the recorder experienced a failure and is unable to start the recording, it recorded fine this morning. In WMC, live tv gives an error, viewing or listing conflict, no tuner available to satisfy the current request. TV setup fails with, tv setup cannot continue, some windows media center services have stopped working....... I uninstalled and reinstalled WMC and did a restore I reinstalled the tv card drivers W7MCGuideUpdate sees the tv cards and downloads the guide ok Any ideas?
WMC is working again. I wanted to get rid of the error from ServerWMC "recorded tv folder is not shared", sharing the recorded tv folder caused the problem if not done in a certain order. what worked for me; closed ServerWMC shared recorded tv "advanced sharing" added everyone in the share enabled file and print sharing in public network ran serverwmc
I just fixed it: the visible text contained the correct URL but not the underlying anchor... most likely because I stupidly copied the previous comment and changed the address without realizing it didn't update the anchor itself.
Hi guys, Some weird problem that started few months ago, i'm trying to fix it now but so far nothing. I have a dual tuner Satellite card and recieve channels from 4 satellites astra 1,2,3 hotbird. I now tried removing all my channels and scanning one frequency t try but the problem persists, even after removing WMC, rebooting and reinstalling. OS: Windows 11 PRO Problem: On some channels and/or some satellite i can still like record from let's say bbc 1 and watch bbc 2, both on astra 2, both channels are FTA However i cannot record from a protected belgian channel on astra 3 and watch another channel from astra 3. Really weird, this used to be no problem at all. How anyone else experienced something like this? I can try stuff out if needed, any help or tips would be appreciated. PS i'm still using the WMC-V13_x64 package, but i believe the 8.8.2 version is the absolute latest?
