This only applies if you sleep your PC right? I used the Network Service post and a test recording started and ended on time, which is all I needed as my PC's never sleep.
Well, I still think this solution solves the problem not starting to recording on time, because it lets WMC know 5 minutes before a recording that a recording is due. The waking up is an extra feature I suppose.
I have v4 installed, but I am forced to go through the live tv setup before it will let me watch TV / guide etc. I get to "Downloading TV Setup Data" and it stays there forever. Only one small bar is filled, so it get stuck at like 1% or so. It never moves from this point. My region is United Kingdom if that makes any difference, and I am coming from windows 7 x64. Thanks guys. P.S. I am not too technical on reg edits etc so try not to overly-confuse me
This Worked on WindowsMediaCenter_6.3.9600.0_x64_v3, after changing the line in the installer everything installs fine, guide works, timer works. Added LAVFilters for video.
Reboot and when you are at "downloading tv setup data" launch mcupdate.exe as administrator. I tested it many times it works
Thanks - it actually worked with just the reboot without even launching the .exe - I was about to but it worked anyway You guys need a FAQ post as I'm sure its been asked a lot already, but over 100 pages is hard to find the relevant information. Great job anyway.
Wow! I have no words to say how much I am thankfull for all of you. You saved my music collection for at least 15 years. I will return with all of my thoughts about WMC on W10 I thanks a bilion times for all of you. ~~~~~~
I installed Shark Codecs with no change, then I installed Win10 DVD player from here https //matthill.eu /tutorials /install-windows-10-dvd-player-free and now have live TV playing, unfortunately I don't have any premium channels to test. Anyone?? url mangled as I'm not allowed to post them
Cursor is locked to the screen that has WMC in fullscreen mode when using multiple monitors in win 10. Anyone know how to unlock it? In 8.1 WMC the cursor does not stay locked in fullscreen.
If you have an 'N' version of Windows, you MUST 1st install the Media Fature Pack from Microsoft. With any version of Windows that already includes Windows Media Player (WMP) and doesnt have UAC disabled, all you need to do to get the Microsoft Codecs working in Media Center to decode LiveTV is to install a current version of my STANDARD Codecs (I release directly to MajorGeeks). Once installed, the 2 GUI's come up and you need to select the [x] SUGGESTED settings checkbox. Installation of my software automatically sets up the Windows Codecs for use in Media Center for LiveTV playback. When the Microsoft codecs fail to decode a file such as FLV, then my software will use the LAV Filters to fill the void. Be sure to remove other codecs such as Haali, LAV, FFDshow etc before installing one of my comprehensive releases.
Installation of my software automatically sets Media Center to use the Microsoft Codecs for LiveTV which is the only way to view Premium channels. EDIT: If a user has disabled UAC, they are causing their own problems.
I want to thank member tdmd99 twice for his post #1027. First those instructions worked great on WMC in Windows 10. Second I could not get WMC in Windows 7 to work. Second thank you is that I used the same identical instructions and now my laptop with W7 has WMC working, guide and all.
OK, it does not work, this is what I tried, installed your Advanced Codecs and selected Suggested settings. Answering the question if I use live TV. (WITH UAC ON) After a reboot, Premium channels still give the "Copy Protection" message and is unable to play (and my setup I am testing on is fully DHCP compliant) THink it's something in 10 that is causing it, or a license problem with the codec. It just does not work.
Since the very first release of XP MCE one thing was clear, the usual IT knowledge isn't enough to get everything working in one stroke. Some black magic is needed as well
Thank You! No more display driver error. No maximizing or minimizing window to get live tv and I successfully played and recorded HBO.
Shark007 We are trying to get Microsoft Codecs for LiveTV to work using Windows 10 and this put together windows media center. I guess windows 10 doesn't have the codec and no one can get the sucker to work in windows 10 with windows media center. Only LAV blah
