I used the 64 bit version not x86 and i did attempt the v5 installer up until realizing it installed a bunch of other programs that i didn't want.
I'm afraid I can't be helpful here. My machines are two notebooks and a server/htpc connected to a VGA LCD TV, for some reasons I never had an HDMI display inside my house.
First off, THANK YOU to everyone that has been working on this and keeps contributing to make sure it works for everyone! I have a quick question. I'm using V3 and my Guide is working great and I'm able to watch all my OTA channels now with Windows DVD Player installed for codecs. I know I shouldn't be messing with WMC anymore, but... will MCL XL work if I purchase it? mychannellogos.com/home If anyone has purchased it and has it working on Windows 10, please let me know, thanks
Yes it works perfectly on w8.1 based installations (the newer ones posted here). It needs a small tweak on W10 based installations.
Yes, I did that. I tried the other way first and got a page that I could not close until I used the Task Manger. I got it downloaded and all it did was install over 135 pieces of malware. I could never get anything that works. I need a good file and a way to get it to work. V2 does not. Can someone help me get WMC to install on my Win 7 pro to Win 10 pro desktop with a Ceton 4 Infinity card?
So I'm pretty much lost here. I have a clean install of Win10 x64 pro and am trying to install this. I have tried multiple versions and removed after my fails. I am trying v5 and I have the hosts information and have flushed my DNS cache but when setting up live tv I get download failure, new TV setup data could not be downloaded. Should I be using v5? I am at a total loss.
Do you have the solution for this issue yet? I am having the same problem using v5 and x64. My workaround for this now is to use the runas feature of Windows. In the WMC shortcut on the desktop, modify the shortcut Properties as follows: C:\Windows\System32\runas.exe /user:ComputerName\Administrator /savecred %windir%\ehome\ehshell.exe where ComputerName is your actual computer's name. You will also need to enable the built-in Administrator account and choose a difficult password. The shortcut created appears in the User\Public\Desktop so it should appear on everyone's desktop. You have to launch it once on each user account and enter in the admin password, which will be saved and won't be asked again.
I never use a downloader if I can get by without doing it. Sometimes I just leave the site and look elsewhere.
JTPCamp, Then download hitman pro from 'xxxx.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro' and it will clean your machine for you. It's fast and will probably find stuff in your machine you didn't know you had in there. You should know what to do with the 'xxx' in the address.
I know it's unusual, but for once I think the error message given by Microsoft is correct. It indicates that the problem is modified system files and we know that to be true because we modified the files. Unless you think the error message is a red herring, there is no indication that anything is missing from the package (with regards to DRM) but an issue of the files we're using having issues. Clearly something is performing some sort of file verification. While it could be doing something as simple as checking for the correct version number, I don't know why they would do that (since it accomplishes almost nothing) instead of doing a CRC check which would show any sort of tampering. I'm not saying it's impossible to get protected content working, but I don't think it's as simple as copying more files as part of the install. It's almost certainly going to require more modifications of the files we're already using, if not other OS files within Windows 10. (which presents another challenge since Win10 files are going to be subject to the whims of Windows Update.
Thank you for bringing WMC to Win10. But I have a big problem with my TV-Card Hauppauge Nova HD S2. It crashes when I start to install the tuner in WMC. I think it's a driver problem. Other programs like DVBViewer for DVB-S works perfect with the nova. The same card works also fine in WIN7. In the eventlog I have two entrys when it crashs: Event-ID 1026 (.NET Runtime) and ID 1000 (Application Error - ehshell.exe I think this problem is not solvable? So I decided to buy a new card. What cards do you have in use?
I doubt it's the card, all Hauppauge cards use the same driver pretty much. I have the Nova DVB-S and it's working fine and it uses the same drivers as yours. It has to be something else, Hauppauge make some of the best cards.
Seem a bit drastic.. Launch the media center recovery task from, then try to do the first configuration with eshell launched with administrative rights
Hmmm, so the Guide says tonight's SNL is a rerun with host Chris Rock and musical guest Prince. The show starts and the host is James Franco and musical guest is Nicki Minaj. At one of the commercial breaks, SNL showed that next weeks rerun will have who's shown as tonight's guests, but when I check the Guide it shows Louis C.K. and Rihanna instead. Has anyone else seen an issue like this with other shows? EDIT: I've checked a few other shows and everything seems correct, so this must be an issue with just NBC/SNL.
