What finally fixed your guide download problems? I am still fighting unsuccessfully to fix mine. I am only watching OTA in central IL. I have done multiple full wipes and installs of the os and mc installs, but still no luck with the guide.
Hi, I've been reading this thread now & then but only registered yesterday, i am one of you people that used mediacenter as primary application and held off updating to windows 10 because of the removal of mediacenter. First of all, many thanks to the people devoting their time to making this happen. So yesterday, after reading some success stories here i decided to try it out. However there are some issues and i hope someone knows how to fix them, i'd rather not go back to windows 8.1. First of all: i used WindowsMediaCenter_10.0.10134.0.zip, is this the correct one to try? I know there are several versions out by now so if there is a better package i'll try with that one. I am having similar issues to the user in post 1142535 I have a old analog cable hauppauge card that works fine but i usually view through my Digital devices satellite card and mediacenter crashes when i try to setup this one. (My windows is dutch so the eventvwr msg is dutch, sorry) Any hints or ideas are much appreciated thanks. *edit* had to remove my links, couldn't post with links
Thanks for that. I have uninstalled the version that i had, installed the v5 and now it does not crash, successfully hooked up my 4 satellite lnb's in the settings. Next channel scan...lets hope it works.
Since I first installed V1 of the x64 version I haven't been able to upgrade version, MCE just never ran after uninstalling and reinstalling, only way I was able to get it to work was to system restore, I'd tried v2, v3, v4 and v5 all with the same problem. This v6 is the first one that works properly. I was able to uninstall my v1, reboot and install v6 without an issue. Something important was obviously fixed in the uninstall or installer. I have a rather simple question. There has been A LOT of work on the WMC from 8.1 ( I see we are on version 6 now), with little work on WMC from 10. 1. Is there any difference between the two source versions of WMC. (I understand there has been no work on it for a long time) 2. For a Windows 10 system, is it better to use the version of WMC from 8.1, or use one from 10, (or it doesn't matter.) thanks in advance

Awesome -- worked for me the 1st time I tried. One minor issue to point out. In the Workarounds.txt, the instructions read: 9. Delete file "mcepg2-0" and folder "mcepg2-0". On my computer the file and folder read: "mcepg3-0" It did not read: "mcepg2-0" Obviously, I just deleted those (with fingers crossed it would have the same effect) and it did.
My first post here and this is for say thanks to the guys who made it possible to have MC in Windows 10 I use a fresh win 10 pro 64 and it looks great so far. One point i find out is that MyChannelLogos only works in standard mode without modifications to BigLogos, 3-hour view, miniguide and so on. Apply made changes have no effect. Only small logos work. Any ideas?
Apologies if this has been brought up previously but in trying v5. It pops up that the media center pack is already installed. This is with the uninstall ... reboot.. install.
Now it works like a charm. I reseted Win10 to facory settings and installed new with the WMC-Version from this post #1245 Everything is perfect now
I downloaded V5 and followed the instructions and it installed. I ran the eshell.exe and WMC started but I had to download and run the Ceton Win 8 drivers. and started setting up WMC. The error I had was it could not download TV Setup data. The instructions say if problems then run "mcupdate.exe" but that file is not in the ehome folder. What do I do now??
Problems with v6 not recognizing OTA channels. Stuck on Cable Tuner channels... this install works but the channels seem to be hard wired for cable. It shows channels in the 9001 to 9010 range and won't allow any edits or channel resets even though it recognizes my HDHOMERUN tuners (over the air) and Hauppauge 950's. WindowsMediaCenter_6.3.9600.16384_x64_v6.7z What does work is the older installer in WindowsMediaCenter_10.0.10134.0.zip It correctly identifies my tuners and finds all the channels. The only problem with it is no episode guide. So two steps forward, 1 back. I'm wondering if a separate installer is needed for different environments. Cable / OTA / Clear QAM cable. Just a suggestion.
