HI, it´s "the Green MCE Button" on a Remote not working anymore? or i did something wrong? Win 8.1 x64 MC it works fine but with the "hacked" Win10 x64 MC win don´t want launch Media Center after pressing "the Green button"....
No other cmd opened after you run _TestRights.cmd? Try to extract the installer pack to a simple path (example C:\wmc)
Ya, that's exactlywhat I did C:\WMC. No other command open. I actually had to finally run the files through the command prompt so i could see what the hell it was saying by cd'ing into c:\wmc and then typing _testrights.cmd or installer.cmd. Right clicking and running as admin resulted in the command prompt displaying for a split second and then disappearing.
To be more specific with my problem, the Ceton tuner is in a different machine, and in order to access the tuner from another computer I have to run the ceton driver/software installer. The problem I believe is not just tuner drivers installation, but the features that get added as extras into WMC. The installer adds various menu items into WMC and features to activate, and that is what I need to take advantage of the network tuner capability through a machine that technically does not have a physical tuner card in it. My actual cable card is in a different Win 7 machine, and thanks to the work here I can access recorded content on my Win 10 machines, but cant get live TV through the WIN 10 machines via the network tuner feature that Ceton has.
Personally I have a remote provided by hauppauge, which use it's own utility and works perfectly. Anyway, you can use the great eventghost utility that can do parctically whatever you want with any remote, including the use of the MCE remotes with other SW, and non MCE remotes with WMC.
hmm i hoped that i did a install mistake and it works out of the box like in win8.1.... so i try event ghost and if it´s "to much to config" then i can roll back to win8.1
Clerly if the problem is the companion SW the driver itself is not enough. Anyway you can try to edit the MSI packages you can find inside the exe and see if you can make them installable on W10. Google for a SW called Orca.
It works by plugins. There is a plugin for each known multimedia SW, and for most of the common remotes. Just install the two plugins you need and bind the each command together. For a basic configuration like one remote and a single media center 15 minutes should be more than enough. Then you may want to use it on any sw you use, or do some more fine tuning, If you want you can spend days on configurations, especially given it has also some network plugins able to control other things reachable from your home network.
Hello, I desperately want to get WMC I was using it just like mp3 player and music library, but I hate the other softwares. (I gave them weeks to persuade me, but...) So I LOVE you guys who bring WMC back from the grave! So far I failed to install it... My notebook: 64bit Win10 Home CZ(CS) language, Intel i3, 2GB RAM, Ati 5470M I went thru steps with no problem (run as admin, everything go as description) but when I click WMC icon, just blue spinning arrow for a 10sec and nothing. I went thru this topic but can't find any solution. I haven't done "you must patch those" things, because I don't know what is it exactly. Is it the problem? Any help please?
I get this exact response for encrypted channels. Has there been a fix/workaround for this? Thanks so much for the hard work.
Hello, this has been an issue since Windows 8 when Ceton dropped support for network tuners. I would suggest trying to follow this guide: thegreenbutton .tv /wiki/ index .php?title=Network_Tuners_Windows_8.1 and see if that solves the issue.
Thanks to all who worked on making WMC run on W10. Install went smoothly and running great, minus the guide. I previously had NextPVR and ffdshow codec pack installed on a new install but didn't like it. I uninstalled both, then bought and installed Windows DVD player so WMC can use the mpeg-2 codec that came with the dvd player. WMC works much smoother than NextPVR. setup: silicondust hdhomerun tuner + OTA broadcast USA
I have original Windows 8.1 Pro WMC and my MCE remote is also like this, I have to press the green and/or tv buttons 2/3 times for it to launch WMC
Hello. I'm new here and i've been looking through out this thread and it really helped me and i got the guide working and it's set to go but.. I can't come across this part. "To have WMC to wake up for recordings, you may need to make "NETWORK SERVICE" a member of the administrator group" when i went to do this part it i can't find where to do the "Groups > Administrators > Add > "network service" > Check names > Okay.. I get a Computer Management (Local) only but not Local users & Groups. any help please? Thanks! Good job again on making this happen.
I did that also and i get this "This snapin may not be used with this edition of Windows 10. To manage user accounts for this computer, use the User Accounts tool in the Control Panel"
Perhaps are you using a non Pro version? Try this Code: net localgroup "administrators" "Network Service" /add (pay attention, "Network service" is localized, if you are in a non EN version you need to change the name accordingly.)
