there needs to be a space prior to the /add for this to work: net localgroup "administrators" "Network Service" /add
I went thru another tips in this topic, still no luck. I tried to uninstall and install again. Uninstallation went good, but when I try to install it again I get "MediaCenter pack is already installed", but it's not installed. How to start instalation over?
There is an alternative. I just changed the Windows Media Center Planning Service to run under the local system account. restarted the service an the wake timers will be set. so i do not need to change any rights for all Network Services
Windows Media Center Planning Service is ran under Network Service is Windows 8.1 WMC. Some permission doesn't allow Network Service to modify tasks, or something else is not running under the correct account.
Is it possible to select 5.1 en 7.1 surround speakers instead of 2 speakers? I have a lot of music dvd's with surround sound, but now i can only play it in 2 speakers stereo.
I'm also yet to find a solution for 5.1 sound in MCE, I've tried registry settings but they didn't work. It's unknown why speaker setup doesn't work
yep, i haven't installed windows 10 on any of my actual media center machines, only on a test rig as there is no way i'm missing out on having surround sound on my home theater. I'm still trying to find a way to resolve it.
I set up 5.1 audio on 'Playback devices' -> 'configure' and then played a mp3 file on WMC and 5.1 worked just fine. Is the 'Set up your speakers' option really needed? I didn't test with a DVD or live broadcast but it should work too, no? Edit: Yeah you're right 5.1 isn't working when playing DVD or watching live broadcast on WMC. But I can't find any other setting and the audio decoder isn't the problem either because I played the same dvd on ghaphstudio.exe and 5.1 worked.
I watched SNL for a bit tonight and 5.1 seemed to be working fine for me. My Sony receiver clearly showed it was decoding 5.1 and I could hear distinct audio tracks from all 5 speakers plus the sub. For live TV I use only OTA so maybe that has something to do with it?
Has anyone else experienced a loss of HDMI signal after a few minutes while running MC in full screen? I don't normally watch TV in full screen when using MC, instead I have it set up so it's in the lower left corner of my 55" LCD and the screensaver runs on the rest. Tonight though while watching SNL I went full screen, only to have the TV go dark after about 4 minutes, with the "No Signal" message being displayed by the Vizio. Nothing I did would bring it back until I did a hard restart on the PC. Has anyone else run into this? I did not have this issue when I ran W8.1 and MC.
I've only had win10 not show a display on hdmi after sleep with nvidia drivers, seems a common problem after some google searches, no known fix either.
Windows 10 build 10240 I found a download for the netflix for windows media center. Probably needs some modification to install concretely for Windows 10 h**p://originaldll.com/file/netflixinwindowsmediacenter.exe/40320.html The instructions on this page shown below. Copy file netflixinwindowsmediacenter.exe to the installation directory of the program that is requesting netflixinwindowsmediacenter.exe. If that doesn't work, you will have to copy netflixinwindowsmediacenter.exe to your system directory. By default, this is: Windows 95/98/Me - C:\Windows\System Windows NT/2000 - C:\WINNT\System32 Windows XP, Vista, 7 - C:\Windows\System32 If you use a 64-bit version of Windows, you should also copy netflixinwindowsmediacenter.exe to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ Make a backup copy of the original files Overwrite any existing files Reboot your computer. If the problem still occurs, try the following: Open Windows Start menu and select "Run...". Type CMD and press Enter (or if you use Windows ME, type COMMAND) Type regsvr32 netflixinwindowsmediacenter.exe and press Enter. If you can't find windows directory try the following: Open Windows Start menu and select "Run...". Type CMD and press Enter (or if you use Windows ME, type COMMAND) Type %WINDIR% and press Enter.
Just wanted to say this is great. I tried to set up a dual boot with W7/W10 but it seems like my W7 installation is now hosed so I am hoping to get WMC working. I just hope guide works and that I can record OTA tv, no cable, nothing protected. Is v7 the latest version ? Is there a way to copy recording settings from my w7 folder to w10 ?
v7 is latest, and it should work well for your situation, inside v7 is a workarounds.txt which has all the important info in it
I'd just like to express my heartfelt thank you for your efforts in making WMC available in Windows 10. The lack of it was my only major gripe with Win 10 and I use it on several devices around the home. No doubt you've spent countless hours working this out. I've so far installed it on 3 machines with only minor hiccups - one of which was the latest insider build and I was much relieved to find that it worked just as well. Please also pass on my thanks to your colleagues.
To everyone that have problems with pc not waking up, even after the workaround, make sure HPET is enabled in your bios.
