I don't have any scrambled channel to test, but I guess that they should work on WHS 2011/SSE-2008 r2 and SBS 2011, because there everything aside the four patched files is installed properly with DISM. On 2012 that way didn't work, so I followed a way close to the W10 one. Hence I guess the success is less likely, although the situation is still better than w10 because all the files are from build 9600 just like the 2012r2 OS.
For those still having Guide download issues, I would try again. This week I was able to enter my correct Zip code on both PC's and download the Guide successfully, so I think Rovi has things fixed.
TESTING mode 2: So far so good. This package is NOT able to install over network storage (!) I have changed the setting within Shark007 and now scrambled TV channels are working too ! After that I also tested other things and I come whit this result: MCE Remote……………………………………………………………………….check MediaCenterStudio…………………………………………………………….NOT working in Windows 10 MCE Reset Tool…………………………………………………………………..check, but not able to change background Microsoft CD/DvD-Player……………………………………………………check Emby/Mediabrowser MCE plugin……………………………………....check AcrSoft Total MediaTheatre for playing (3D)Blu-Ray…………..check, but you have to make a button for it (with MCE Reset Tool) to link uMCEPlayer manually inside MediaCenter Cyberlink Power DvD-Player………………………………………………..not tested, but assume works as well Ps: the “standard” HD DvD button inside MediaCenter is NOT working So far for my contribution. I’m a very happy guy now and shall continue using Windows 10
VERY NICE!! So aside from installing the latest version (v8), can you explain what else you did to get the guide, scrambled channels etc working? Thanks in advance!
I have a link to a pdf document for the wright settings of Shark007 But I am not able to put a internet link because I do not have a "minimum" of 20 posts........... Can some administrator help me out to help other persons ?
Re. Shark007 codecs Would be interesting to find out if installing Shark007 standard codecs would allow play of copy protected .wtv files, without having to install Windows DVD Player app. It's been a while since I used Sharks codecs, mainly because of the crapware packaged with it, although its possible to extract the main installer to get the codec only installer package with a bit of effort.
Thanks T-S I already had installed the Metro DvD player, but whit only that it is not possible to play scrambled Live-TV So I had to install a descend codeckpack, but could still not play scrambled Live-TV whit the “advised” Shark007 settings. So after that I was testing the settings and came out whit the settings which I have showed in the simple pdf file. Now it is working 100% guarantied
well all you had done in the shark pack was set the codecs to the microsoft ones and lav for other formats not related to media center so it was probably just a registry setting putting an incorrect codec and shark's pack set it back to microsoft ones. Interesting, maybe that registry setting didn't exist at all on Win10 machines... I also note the shark pack sets codecs for extender support... also interesting for those trying to get extenders to work.
Yeah I think you’re wright, this was what I thought too, so I looked for a possibility to set the codecs too the wright position and succeeded in that. And indeed maybe there was no registry input for this at all because MCE was pushed out of Windows 10. Because Shark007 also have support for Extenders through MCE this is probably why this is working now ass well, but honestly I did not now this ;-) I use Shark007 for quit a long time now and now that it is very reliable and easy to handle if you know where to look and what you have to do. There is also a lot of info to find for “special” settings at the Shark site itself…………
Many thanks for the pdf! SO to reiterate the process, all you did was install v8, and install shark codecs with the special settimngs and you got guide/livetv working? Thanks again!
I tried to purchase the Media Center Pack for my new Windows 8.1 Pro computer and got the following message when I clicked on "I want to buy a product key online" after I had selected "Add features to Windows 8.1": "Sorry, online purchase isn't available in your region. In most cases, you can go to an electronics store to buy a product key." I checked my region and it is set to the United States. I was able to purchase a product key on another computer back in May. I called Microsoft but they are of no help. I even offered to purchase over the phone but it is not available for purchase. If I can no longer get Media Center for Windows 8.x, I may have to try this WMC patch. Has any one tried this on Windows 8.x?
OK, this EPG stuff is driving me nuts. I have read almost the entire thread looking for a fix to my inability to access a program guide (not easy when a thread is this long). I have uninstalled, reinstalled (currently on v7), deleted files, changed hosts file, changed DNS servers, and nothing works. I am able to see the appropriate guide in msn.com/en-us/tv/tv-listings, but I just keep getting download error messages in WMC. Any further advice would be greatly appreciated. Tia tohowalk
You need to add the network service to the aministrators group or launch mcupdate manually as administrator during the initial setup. Also i better to launch the wmc recovery task before trying after a failed attempt.
