Ive been trying to stay up with this thread but has the 5.1 and 7.1 audio issues been resolved? this fix works without a problem on my regular PC but I would like to upgrade my HTPC to windows 10. Thanks
The best thing to do in such case is to shring the OS partition and do a test installation in dual boot, before upgrading the main OS It's even simpler using a VHD. Anyway, if I'm bot mistaken looks like someone has success trough the Shark007 UI. The WMC UI still doesn't show the audio options.
Sorry - My first message was long on frustration and short on detail. I am running Windows 10 pro, clean install. I have a Hauppauge internal tuner card and an OTA antenna. TV reception is fine. I am running WMC V7 downloaded from the link in earlier posts. I have played with the hosts file, and just added Network Service to the administrator group. No matter what I try, I continue to get the same error when trying to set up live TV - unable to download info and guide due to earlier downloading errors. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled WMC without success.
Question regarding updating Hosts file mentioned in : I have not edited hosts file yet. If I have initial guide data but then after about a ?week or so do a search and it shows 11 days of guide data, does that mean its not updating and is the host edit a likely fix for that, suppose to be 14, right ? Also just to confirm , Atlanta is considered south or east coast?
IT WORKS!!! I got the media center extender to work on Windows 10! Okay so all you do after you install windows media center is you follow OPTION 1 on the page for multiple RDP. After that just restart your computer make sure the media center extender service is running in services.msc and setup your media center extender as you would on other windows versions and it works!
So now it would be cool to have the media centre installer install the dvd player and a modified termserv.dll, its getting near a complete solution.
Yes. Would be nice not just because win 7, but also because Windows Home Server 2011. It will be the best OS ever to have on a homeserver/htpc machine.
This is slightly off topic, but I thought I'd ask the WMC brain-trust before starting a new thread... How impossible would it be to get an actual Windows PC to act as a WMC extender (act as an XBox 360)? Thanks for the awesome achievement of freeing WMC! Funny how MS couldn't afford to do what a handful of hackers accomplished for free, and now the genie is out of the bottle forever!
If the marketing genius not decided to cripple down WMC (at least on the home server) in this way they sold millions of copy instead WHS is an almost unknown product and WMC itself is known just by a minoirity of the users, and even who has an home server uses Kodi on a desktop Windows or other solutions. Many of those "genii" earn monthly more than any average Joe in a whole life...
1. Create "Termsrv" folder inside project "bin" folder 2. Place patched "termsrv.dll" inside newly created "Termsrv" folder 3. Edit "Install.bat" to backup & replace termsrv.dll with patched version "Install.bat" - edited (just before "Install assemblies..." section) Code: see post #1941

No need to take ownership to replace termsrv.dll using install.bat, it's launched with TrustedInstaller privileges
the only issue I see is each version of windows needs its own termserv.dll am I correct? So it would need to check if you're using 8, 8.1, 10 and server and then install the appreciate termserv.dll
Ok so I did some testing and even though I could get my Windows Media Center extender to work it crashes after 5 or so minutes and I need to click reconnect. I did find some event viewer errors/warnings. Event ID's: 117, 7031, and 10010 occur when WMC crashes whilst Event ID's 107 and 113 occur beforehand (these warnings might not matter at all). I checked regedit and 784E29F4-5EBE-4279-9948-1E8FE941646D = AUSessionConnectTaskHandler Class 1.0 If anyone knows how to fix this please reply. Thanks!
yeah, but easy enough to overcome by adding various "termsrv.dlls" to "Termsrv" folder, and adding file version check to "Install.bat" to apply appropriate dll. example cmd WMIC DATAFILE WHERE name="c:\\windows\\system32\\termsrv.dll" get Version /format:Textvaluelist
