So I ran a search for drmv2ctl.dll and it is not in either folder. I unhide items as well. I do have a file drmv2clt.dll in both folders. Thanks
Hi, Ok, I downloaded and installed the latest package on the first page of this message thread. When I run the testrights icon as administrator, I get the following message: "Error: this installer is for 32-bit systems." I thought that I hadn't downloaded a 32-bit version? Can someone please point me to the links to the packages for 64 and/or 86 bit systems? Thank you.
Always use the link in the first thread: //forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/61061-DISCUSSION-Patch-WMC-to-run-on-Windows-10-final-amp-possible-alternatives/page125?p=1142647&viewfull=1#post1142647 There you see both x86 and x64 files. Click on one of the downlink sources (in every link is the same file)
Woot! - I finally got it working last night. I uninstalled V7 and deleted the remaining folders. Then I downloaded and installed V8 and followed the instructions in the workarounds text file (except for a clean install of Windows). My first attempt failed, so I changed to the second recommended IP address for data.tv.download, tried again, and the setup data and guide loaded successfully. I don't know if it was the Homerun drivers that did it or what, but all is now working fine. Many thanks to all involved!
Hi, Thank you for your message. Prior to reading your message, I had downloaded from the links at the link you gave. However, I still get the message that the packages are for a 32-bit system. I tried to remove the version of Media Center that isn't working on my PC, but I can't remove the program after running the uninstall cmd that came with the package at the link above.
Which file you downloaded? The right one is named WindowsMediaCenter_6.3.9600.16384_x64_v8.7z or WindowsMediaCenter_6.3.9600.16384_x64_v7.7z (the previous version)
Please try one of the other links than instead, maybe that helps ? For the other part (not able to remove package) I hope you have made a restore point before taking action or have a image of your windows disk to put that one back ?
My belief is that the "System Files Modified" message is directly related to the fact that codecs/filters etc that are expected by the PlayReady runtime are completely different on Windows 10 vs Windows 8.1 (which is what PlayReady is meant to be used on). When Windows 8 came out, a new version of PlayReady came out as well. I still believe if we have someone smart enough to get all the codecs/filters from Windows 8.1 and move them to Windows 10 then this error will go away. Using GraphtEdit and something like ProcMon you can easily see what files are being accessed with Media Center when you attempt to play a protected piece of content. I imagine you'd be able to do this even tho you can't play the content because you can determine what is accessed even tho it fails. Once we have the Graph and the Files identical, I believe this will resolve itself. This is all the files I've found so far that are accessed and appear related to video decoding/processing. All of these files exist prior to an installation of WMC. The however is tho, is that the mpeg2 decoder exists on Windows 10, but it won't work till Windows DVD Player is installed is what someone mentioned. Likewise with Windows 8.1, the decoder exists, but until you install WMC does it activate itself. So the SKU check from the Windows 8.1 codecs would likely be in that, meaning if we try to take those codecs to 10, then suddenly that codec is looking for the SKU check. At least that is my understanding. A SKU does get installed when you activate the cablecard system (which says you won't be able to watch protected tv content till you activate it). If you do a "slmgr -dlv" you can see another product key is now activate after you activate the cablecard setup. But I doubt this is the SKU its looking for.
I don't have a restore point or an image of my windows disc. I am not clear how to do the latter. I tried to remove Media Center by going to Control Panel, Programs and Features, Turn Windows features on or of, and Media Features. However, Media Center is not shown in the window.
This happened me a view times before and I know what you mean by this. Gladly I had an image of my C disk (I always make one if I try something big like this and I only can advise all people to do so) I have seen this also happen a view times, you want to remove the package but it does nothing. I don’t know why but it is something related to the win10 register I think. So for you I’m very sorry, but I think you have to start from scratch now……….. and make an image of you windows disk if you have installed windows complete.
You can try (temporarily) to set the MediaCenter-EnabledSKU=1 flag with the product policy editor to see what happens. (you must disable the spp service to get it sticking enough to do some tests). This way WMC should work also with the unpatched files, so you can try that further option to see if something changes.
Please RTFM. There is an uninstaller script inside the installer. Obvously you don't have and uninstall option in the CP.
This patch is awesome! HUGE thanks to those involved. Can't get any EPG guide to work correctly for free with NextPVR. I've had it with Batch files, my eyes are bleeding. Shouldn't have to pay for free over the air EPG listings. The easiest, best DVR setup for my configuration now is Windows 10 with this patch, Kodi and ServerWMC. 100x easier than every other setup and just works. Had to get creative to get the EPG to work all of a sudden with WMC with the change to Rovi, but that is another story that is thankfully solved. F_U Microsoft and your lack of support. Praise to the geniuses that fix their dereliction for people like me.
Hello, While I will say that I'm not very technically skilled computers, I did read the readme that came with package prior to reading your message. I have made several attempts running the uninstaller following the instructions in the readme. The uninstaller doesn't remove the files on my PC.
Is your _TestRights.cmd working? (it opens two command windows in sequence and the second stays opened? )
Hi again, I assume that TestRights.cmd isn't working. When I run the cmd as an adminstrator, the comand prompt window closes abruptly. A second windows doesn't come up.
Checking that is a prerequisite before installing. Sometime a reboot is enough to get it working but there are conditions where it doesn't work at all, one of them is being connected to a domain.
As T-S and also I said before: Network locations does NOT work……….probably your loading from network attach or domain ? You have to load the program from your C drive, so first copy the files to a new location at your C drive, then it should work
I had similar problem, uninstall wasn't working even when testrights were OK. Problem was AVG antivirus and its residence shield. Then both Uninstall and Install works perfectly.
