I see that in Comodo Firewall, there is a section for Sandbox tasks. It looks very similar to Sanboxie but I have never tried it before.

I know it. I'm still prefer the Sanboxie's solution.

Using Acronis Try&Decide for years now on Win10x64 !
Like it very much , you can reboot by choosing " safe /discard chances" also...............

@ those still posting here, which include me, note that the thread is well over 2 years old and the OP, though he seemed desperate, hasn't bothered to come back to acknowledge or thank anybody.

@ Mr.X, though what you say is technically correct, something that serves the purpose, given of course that it does, can be considered as an alternative.

@ OP, and what is wrong with Sandboxie in the first place?

Finally, AVAST antivirus has facility for sandboxing. Any VM, though not a sandbox, will also probably achieve the purpose. So would a system image.

Big advantage of Try&Decide is the possibility to reboot IN Try-modus , coz lots of software only installs well ,after reboot.
Most of these software ( Defender etc.) dont let you reboot , if you do , you loose all the chances you made...........

I agree. Bear in mind, again, Sandboxie is sandboxing per application. Shadow Defender is system-wide light virtualization.

I consider it opportune to mention here that I've recently tried to use System Restore of W10 as a form of freeze or rather taking a snapshot, hoping that it would perform better than that of XP as regards restoring apps. I was disappointed.

Specifically, I created a SR point before uninstalling an app. But when I restored the system, the app wouldn't work.

Afaik, SR doesn't backup the app but the registry only.
