There is no competition here! This thread, which we are cluttering with off topic bulls**t, is about the most prefered PE worldwide. Stop doing comparison yourself! You're repeating "my truck, Strelec's racing car" again & again!!! So ask yourself: Why you are repeatedly comparing your pe to a truck? You implicitly admitted that your pe suffers from multiple misconceptions and is far behind "racing cars"! And this is precisely confirming what i pointed out about it.
Really I don't care which has the lower footprint or whatever. So long as I can boot into it, do the task I need to do - move on...
And of course, for added safety use a Russian made PE, and perhaps a Chinese backup solution like Aomei.
What's wrong with Russian made PE? (apart from the language barrier for English speaking users of course)
Absolutely nothing wrong... Sergei Strelec's WinPE is excellent. After all, it is not his fault, that Russia has terrible leadership
Absolutely! Technological innovation and excellence have no boundaries! Sergei Strelec's PE English is sort of the translated version of his Russian one. For those who have no problems with both languages, both are excellent and unsurpassed! Other few good ones emerged in the absence of updated builds from Sergei, Including Chinese, Russian and Vietnamese made, but not as perfect as Sergei's PE Talking about innovations in WinPE development, Microsoft provided a very useful environment to work with (Vanilla winPE), but it's intentionally limited. However, even if it's not commonly known, the chinese reinvented the wheel in this field and filled the gap! Most WinPE builders, if not all, are using the chinese extensions transparently and confidently since years with no worries about its origin The produced bootable system doesn't care about nationalities, politics or religions. Implemented machine-instructions are perfectly readable, safe, customizable, and smoothly executed! Russians and Ukrainians smartly enhanced and optimized its usage. For instance, Sergei Strelec mastered it since its early development. The PE guru Chris.R, master chef at theoven.org, is also an expert in cooking things with chinese ingredients since long time. BTW, i occasionally do WinPE in all possible languages, just for fun, and for some colleagues from different cultures, including English, Russian, Ukrainian, etc ... All share the same stuff, the same method, the same bundled pe programs, only difference is, of course, languages files. So what would make the Russian one less safe than the others?!
Has anyone managed to make the strelic wim files boot from a vhd.? I thought applying the wim file to a mounted VHD would work, but I couldn't make it bootable. edit: Never mind, no need for a VHD. The wim can also be added to the BCD
Well, this version still doesn't work on both of my computers, which all drives are encrypted with BitLocker. File Explorer can't see any of the encrypted partitions; however, it can see the all the unencrypted partitions such as EFI/Recovery partitions on the same system drive. So again, this is definitely not a hardware chipset driver issue. When I inserted an unencrypted USB drive, file explorer shows it as encrypted drive with a yellow padlock on it. When double clicked on it, it told me this drive is encrypted with BitLocker but currently opened. However, it wouldn't actually open, just pop up that error message. This behavior is even more strange than the previous release. I think Sergei really is lost in BitLocker stuff with the recent two releases in a row.
I downloaded the ISO image from the site, then I unzipped the ISO with 7zip to see what it contained as I had done other times. The Avast antivirus reported a lot of programs contained in it with viruses
