    I don't think so.

In many years I have used this method i discovered only few programs that do checks at runtime, minitool partition wizard is one of them, edge legacy is another.

In the worst case switching back and forth is matter of 1 second + one reboot, not a big problem for store's purpose.

Right but it's a server, so reboots aren't preferred..

If it's a server used as server hardly you need crap from the market.

If it's a server used as clean client, it's just a minor annoyance. But I repeat I don't think is necessary.

RIght, but it's a server, so having no Store at all is preferred. Windows and Windows Server both do not care how many times you restart them.

I'm using it as an always on server, there just aren't any clients. It's the only client, but I am hosting so downtime still not preferred. I would like the Store because there are some user side apps only found there. Don't judge me! haha. I do use Minitool Partition...

So I should switch certificates to Client ? I honestly don't understand the first step, how to add Client Certificates to the folder.

I asked myself the same thing at the beginning...
    Certs are located in "C:\Windows\System32\spp\tokens\skus"
Find a W10 client/pro ISO, open .wim with 7zip, or take files from a live installation.
Go to "C:\Windows\System32\spp\tokens\skus" and copy/paste "Professional" folder to same location on Server.
    Then slmgr /rilc

Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...

OK I was able to copy the certs over, change the serial to my Win10 serial, and finally update an app in Store! I can even run Ryzen Master because I suppose it think my server is Win10, even though most of the icons are instead black bars. Also Minitool works fine, for some reason I can't search from the explorer search box?

What are the pros/cons of leaving it like this? What defecits will I experience from the server side?

You can't use the OS as a domain controller. That's the main con.

BTW If you decide to keep it as client is better to switch from pro to ltsc

Thanks for this. Seems like I don't even need this to be a Server computer really, just something that's always on, provides FTP, Wireguard, etc.

Where would I find the LTSC certs for Win 10?

Come on! Where you want to find them? Inside a Win 95 ISO? :D

Surprisingly Pro certs are inside W10 Pro, and LTSC certs are inside W10 LTSC...

Haha, which certs though? I've found EnterpriseSN, EnterpriseS, and IoTEnterpriseS...

EnterpriseS is the internal name of LTSC.

BTW copying more certs means that you can switch to more editions, does not hurt at all.

OK I will try this file. Any clue why now I cannot type in search bars? nothing in default windows search from start menu, nor explorer. it's as if the keyboard is broken in search bars. But I can type anywhere else, browsers, folder window in explorer, word documents. This just happened when I switched my certs.

That's whatever happens when cortana package is removed but I never noticed this behavior switching license

BTW i never cared of it, I prefer to use agent ransack for general search and classic shell as menu. I prefer something that find files rater than the useless stock search

btw, does it works if you switch back to server?

Same issue when switching to client. Search does not work when typing. example: for command prompt have to go to system32 and launch from there. Don't know why but everytime it happens. Then switching back to Server everything is ok

    Ok I did some tests

I can confirm the problem on the useless cortana button, but not on the explorer's search field.

Also there is no problem with paths, cmd start just fine typing cmd in the run field, in task manager, in classic shell search field and so on.

The cortana problem is even present switching to win 10 rdsh (which is branded as win 10, but technically is a server)

Perhaps the cortana button/search field works switching to Azure HCI, which is a great news given it requires no activation (like Hypercore) but unlike hypercore has the dcpromo policy enabled, so the server can still work as domain controller, while being completely activation free.

So the takeaway here is no store on Server if you value the cortana/search mechanism? I too reverted back to my Server Branding and regained search capabilities, which predictably broke the store again. Oh well, looks like I'll have to temp switch to Client when I need Store access, then switch back?
