I just noticed the update today. Now I have to re-install on my multi-boot system (6 Linux distros and Win 10 - which never gets used these days). I just installed elementary OS 0.3.1. last week, but it's still pretty generic, so a clean install won't wipe out much.
Bad time of year to release new distro for me, I will have to clean install this somewhere else to see how it goes.
I clean installed elementary OS 0.3.2 Freya 64-bit (used the ISO that Distrowatch links to). A quick look at 0.3.2 and to me it looks and acts exactly like 0.3.1. The changes must be under the hood. . I installed LibreOffice from the software repository and it's still version 4 something. I was hoping for LibreOffice 5 as that's what Linux Mint 17.3 Rosa and Ubuntu 15.10 installs. Oh well, I will have to chase down ver 5 for elementaryOS and manually install it. I have my hard disk partitioned into 6 Linux distro partitions, so I can wipe one and replace it without affecting the other distros. Makes it much easier having the drive set up this way.
Would be really great. I dont really like OSX but the Elementary take on their theme is excellent, a lot better than the original. You are probably right about the speed of the next release, the DistroWatch review of the latest Ubuntu would suggest that not very much has been changed making a fresh Elementary mod a lot easier for the developer. I love this OS but I have one major frustration with it, its so slow to respond a lot of the time, I hope Loki is quicker. Once a program is open its fine, its just the initial response time that lets it down.
They all have issues when they get this old, especially when they have been in the hands of a teenager for any length of time I love Elementary, its unique, but on my machine Mate runs rings around it.
Which version of Elementary are you using x32 or x64? I think I installed x64, perhaps x32 might have performed better. Most Linux distros recommend x64 these days if the PC will run it, at one time I would have always chosen x32 for an older machine
When I last tried Elementary OS 0.3.1 x64 on my laptop it didn't have a setting in Power options about what to do when my laptop's lid is closed. Whenever I closed my laptop's lid the system went to sleep and there was no option to change that so I switched to Linux Mint 17.3. I want to know if that's fixed in Elementary OS now? I would really like to use this as my primary OS but that bug is a deal breaker for me.
