The OP posted something I was unaware of. In Solus Linux, they made so many modifications, that you no longer have full control over your privacy setting too. Which means not only have they slowed down the browser, they have also decided what you can or cannot share with Mozilla.
You have to wait for v58. Remember Solus is not based off Ubuntu so they have to make whatever changes to work with it.
The problem is not Firefox it is Solus Linux. I have Firefox Quantum running just fine on Ubuntu, Debian, Arch Linux, Fedora, Apple Mac OS, and even Windows. Solus Linux it would seem modified their build and that is the problem.
I see no difference, it's the same speed rendering and it's still murdering the processor. edit just extract the tar file and run the firefox executable
Sadly no they are not the same (even though they should be) Debian = Fast Ubuntu = Fast Fedora = Fast openSUSE = Fast Firefox Linux (directly from Mozilla) = Fast Apple Mac OS = Fast Windows = Fast Solus = Not Fast My husband, posted on Reddit, and a bunch of other people agreed, up until one of the devs stepped in and deleted all the agreeing post, then pinned his post to get upvoted. Still, if you search their Reddit forum, you'll find a few folks here and there who question exactly WTF did Solus do to Firefox.
