I have unpacked the single setup file and the setup.exe in there is signed by Symantec. Installed successfully
Thank you so much for these installation packages, great work! Installed 14.3.12167.1000 and it works perfectly.
@Valery2310 Ummm, what's the uninstall password? :/ Thank you for the thought, but it seems it's still configured via your SEPM.... Has anyone actually tried uninstalling it after installing what he provided? It won't let me modify what was installed or uninstall without a password. I had to use cleanwipe.
You're absolutely right. I won't disclose it for security reasons. CleanWipe handles this perfectly. Creating new packages and setting some simple password there for no reason is not a good idea. I've already spent a lot of time on all this for all of you and us. I'm acutely aware of this situation. Some time ago, I also asked on all the forums for a package like this, which was only available from SEPM, and no one helped me. I decided I should help us all. The option to opt out of the mandatory password was introduced in version (SEPM Build 27665). But it's unavailable to me.
* used the setup.exe to upgrade 14.3.12154.10000 to 14.3.12167.10000, it looked ok but it did it silently !! * uninstall it after the upgrade and it did NOT ask for password. * installed 14.3.12167.10000 fresh but it did not prompt for any customization (it done it silently) then uninstalled it (for testing password issue) and it did NOT ask for password. * unpacked 14.3.12167.10000 setup.exe using winrar * compared these two files (setAid.ini & Setup.ini) of 14.3.12167.10000 and adjust them to be like the files in 14.3.12154.10000 * run setup.exe in the unpacked folder and it behaved like it used to be in 14.3.12154.10000 * run the update and configure it to my need, so far no issue that I can see or notice
I was able to modify the INI files to make it more 'defaulted'. You can compare the files from the RU10 version without the patch 1. Works fine now. Thanks for the install files!
I specifically ran a test to verify your claims. 1. Uninstalled Managed Client 14.3.12167.10000 via the Control Panel. 2. A password was requested because the client is managed by SEPM. 3. Then I uninstalled it using CleanWipe to make sure everything was clean. 4. Installed Unmanaged Client 14.3.12154.10000 from the Symantec distribution. 5. Added an Exception for the test – no password was requested. 6. Updated the client with Package 14.3.12167.10000 that I provided to you – no password was requested. 7. Uninstalled Client 14.3.12167.10000 that I provided to you – no password was requested. I did not make any changes to the INI files. Rebooted the system after each step. So your problem is clearly not related to my package.
I respectfully disagree. I didnt have this issue before i updated SEP with your package. I'm fine now though. My post was merely to advise others who may have this issue. Perhaps it works differently on your machine. Unsure. But i do thank you for the updated install files!
If you extract the files with winrar from the 'setup, exe' you can edit the INI files for the install. You can compare the plain text files with prior versions of the installer.
The main thing is that my work was needed by everyone and wasn't in vain. Everything else is unimportant.
