Windows 10 Still Supported : https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...options-activation-and-troubleshooting.89665/ Thanks.
Thank you for that info. Does anybody have a link of can post a new one of the RU latest patch version, 14.3.10178.8000 for the 64bit client? That would be great. I tested that previous version and it still shows DETAILS when the popup of Allow or Deny Internet access comes up. Very helpful so don't understand why Symantec took it out since RU9. But I guess nobody cared or complained. As it goes... Less for more ;-) Anyways, I would really appreciate that help.
In case somebody has the Problem: Firewall malfunctioning! after an install of any older version. The solution is: ******************************************* Resolution Uninstall the SEP firewall from the System or uninstall the SEP client using clean wipe tool. Reboot the system Search and delete any of file with the name teefer under folder C:\WINDOWS\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository Delete the C:\WINDOWS\inf\oem277.inf Disable the Tamper protection From registry, back up and then delete "HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\services\teefer and teefer2" If exists Delete C:\Windows\SysWOW64\drivers\Teefer.sys , check if the same exists under "C:\Windows\System32\drivers". Reinstall SEP/Firewall component Reboot the system **************************************** It worked perfectly for me at least. Now I can indeed install an older version in Windows 10! Hence I am looking now for that 14.3.10178.8000 since it still shows those Details... in the dialog. And it is still supported with NO end of life date yet ;-)
Hi and thank you for the post. However, I just downloaded that RU8 and found the zip files does not contain any Symantec .exe. It extracts a 'setup.exe'. Upon extracting it, the .ini files show also weird characters and messages. Talking about the English not the Russian setup of course. So don't know if you are aware or if its a repost. But I cannot install this. Again, thank you anyway for the effort.
I am exporting client installation packages from SEPM. The packages contain the latest patches. The packages were exported as is, without any modifications. Export package settings: - Create as a single executable file - Include virus definitions - Export an unmanaged client - Default security policies apply If you want to manage the SEP client installation, unzip the setup.exe file (it's a regular archive), perhaps into a SETUP folder. In this folder, find the installer file (Microsoft Installer) - Sep64.msi. Run it, if necessary, as an administrator. This will allow you to manage the installation and select the required components. You can also do this after you've already installed SEP. You'll then be able to Modify the installation, allowing you to select components. You can install only the Antivirus or perform a full installation
Hi Everybody! Does it can make/put its, said Symantec Endpoint Protection, context menu of windows explorer (or whatever his newest, best m$ name is now no-no-no don't think badly of me, I adore microsoft.)?
hi~ do(es) any expert(s) here know how to back-up the settings and easily export/import them?? I know on the top-right "HELP" tab, there's "troubleshoot" to import/export policies, but that's not what I want... (and what's that function anyway ??? ) I hate it to do/modify one by one again everytime I re-install or newly install SEP..... really a pain in donkey..... thanks~~
Anybody tried this recently? Because it is now working! Of course one can disable it, same can be done via Group Policy.... BUT then SEP give Error. So one can just disable those Browser Intrusion and get the same effect. Disabled. Also, for some reason Symantec CAN indeed overwrite the Group Policy and enable those blocked plugins. That is in my opinion a grave break of trust into an application that is suppose to Protect ....
It should work with all versions 14.3xx. But my case was only with those Older Versions. Those you mention installed always with the firewall working. However, try to select after install the option to ASK before allowing an internet connection.... In my case, whenever I am on a VPN, that won't work as it did before Windows 10. So I don't know if its Symantec or Windows 10 related. But I cannot trust symantec endpoint anymore as I did when using Windows 7. Then the ASK option worked 100% even when in a VPN. Now with Windows 10 and I presume even in Windows 11, it will not be 100% anymore. So everybody be carefull when you think you supposedly have a Firewall that protects you at least 99%. With Windows 10 and my experiences.... it does not anymore! If somebody has had the same experience and perhaps found a solution to this, kindly post. Regards,
The "Ask" works fine for me on both Win 10 and 11, I've had that option enabled for decades (ever since it was Symantec Antivirus Business Edition). However I do miss the "details" - when I first noticed it gone with RU9 I did lots of searching and couldn't find anything about it being gone or why.... Sounds like your windows install may have some other issues going on.
