Wow, hate to say this but trying the new Ubuntu 14.04 beta on my seagate and its lightning compared to any other OS I have used on this machine. Its a real speed demon, I mean holy cow is it lightning. 5 secs holy crud! Though fast bootups dont make good systems I have to give Ubuntu credit here. I wonder if I can speedboost openSUSE now.
Why not? Is there a OS fundamentalist war out there that I'm not aware of? Beside that, is this a Linux branch of this forum or am I having hallucinations?
I saw that in the last Ubuntu ISO's there are some wonderful wallpapers and with sudo apt-get update these can be taken also.
Its simple to install Ubuntu and Windows 8.1 in dual boot if you that want..First,install Windows 8.1 (but before install you must verify to have enough space for both operating systems on your HDD(I have 200 GB),and then install Ubuntu(I have here Ubuntu 14.04 x64) and during install choose to install Ubuntu alongside Windows 8.After reboot you will be able to chose between OS.
Before installation, you may want to try ubuntu/mint/any distro first in "live" mode. This lets you run linux OS from a CD or usb flash drive without making any changes to your computer. With so many "flavors" of linux available, it's neat to be able to take them out for a test drive.
Yes, i have 300+ gb on my HDD. So when Ubuntu was installed, i have 3 bootable options also called Windows 8.1 (main os) and ubuntu and second Ubuntu.. so how to delete one of them ? i mean ubuntu option upd. i must install ubuntu from windows or from bootable flash ??
Why two Ubuntu installs? Download GRUB Customizer to edit out the rogue install... No... always install or run from USB - not from windows - only time you need to go there is if you want to use the Windows bootloader to launch Ubuntu (via BCDEdit)...
I think this is great subtle statement. Also the fact, most don't no how to install any OS, let alone Linux. Windows comes pre-installed on all PC's unless of course you buy a bare bones system. It would have been a different world if all PC's from their beginning having no OS installed, and left up to the user to install, or giving the option of their choice.
