Hmm ... in my tests wget had very very erratic download behavior, where aria2 was downloading with full speed nearly. This was even BEFORE any specific scripts.
hello, to be clear, i see that downloaded files are esd files so why suggest to use UUP converter when logically you have to use ESD converter (WIM <> ESD) ?
@mkuba50 Thanks for this awesome contribution! If you want, I can move this thread to Projects & Applications section.
ESD in general is highly compressed (and even encrypted) WIM. BUT: There's a difference in regards to the Store ESDs used for Upgrading your OS. These big files come with Setup files, boot.wim and install.wim stored in the indices and need to be handled by ESD>>ISO. The UUP releases are a wild mix of small ESDs, CABs and folders.
Let's leave it in Windows 10 section for now. I will contact you if I will think that there will be need to move it.
ok so to sum up, you can use UUP converter to convert small ESD files from this topic into WIM files, do you confirm ?
Nope, not that easy. There are two general ways to Upgrade the OS. The old way uses Store ESDs where the new introduced the UUPs (iirc Universal Update Platform or alike). Do not confuse them, has nothing to do with ESDs in general.
ok i rephrase, you can use UUP converter to convert small ESD files from this topic to wim files, is this correct ?
Is not connected to ESDs, depends what upgrade way is used. UUPs can contain CABs and folders that will be converted to ESDs first when using UUP>>ISO.
Update is in planning stage, stay tuned. Language choice in that way would be a PITA for all available langs. If a Lang the user enters doesnt exist, the script will error due to missing list for download. Edition choice is checked out atm.
I'm following you, already; shoud you be scared? What if you "embed" a list of effectively avaliable languages inside your script? So the user can choose strictly from a numbered list and doesn't mistype, such as I did (don't laugh at me for this, please XD) instead of it-it I typed it-iy and obviously I got the missing list error. I survived, but... *shame on my trembling fingers while typing with lights off at late night*
Will check this out... but nasty stuff, if you check the chaos with available langs. Atm the query for new build has priority, then we'll see .
does the UUP converter v12 script has to be run on win10 machine so that these small esd files can be converted to iso ? because i tried to run the script on win7 x64 machine and i got an error saying that some adobe flash file is missing.
Afaik, It should run on all win editions, it's standalone (all needed files are in the script folders), if the script reports errors it's because you're missing some file(s) or using corrupt files.
