No, but it confirms the 'old' string we used to replace turned DOS bootable disc's unbootable, i have found an alternative patch string as well, eg amd64 Code: 01 89 46 16 8B 46 16 88 E0 30 E4 50 B8 74 00 50 B8 40 00 50 E8 AA 74 83 C4 06 8B 46 1C 0C 01 89 46 1C 89 EC 5D C3 8A 46 16 0C 00 30 E4 89 46 16 31 C0 50 x86 Code: 01 89 46 16 8B 46 16 88 E0 30 E4 50 B8 74 00 50 B8 40 00 50 E8 A8 74 83 C4 06 8B 46 1C 0C 01 89 46 1C 89 EC 5D C3 8A 46 16 0C 00 30 E4 89 46 16 31 C0 50 Confirmed to be working on: 4.1.6, 4.1.8, 4.1.10, 4.1.12, 4.1.14, 4.1.16, 4.1.18, 4.1.20

A new version from VirtualBox is out "VirtualBox-4.1.8-75467" Download h**t://dlc.sun.com.edgesuite.net/virtualbox/4.1.8/VirtualBox-4.1.8-75467-Win.exe (remplace h**p => http)
VirtualBox 4.0.16 (released 2012-01-11) This is a maintenance release. The following items were fixed and/or added:
kind of weird that a new version would be 4.0.16 considering they have been on the 4.1 version for a while !
Oracle yesterday released VirtualBox 4.0.16, a maintenance release of VirtualBox 4.0 which improves stability and fixes regressions. But will continue to release version 4.1.x ;
vbslic, debian squeeze & virtualbox 4.1.8 Hi atreyu, does your tool actually work with debian squeeze & virtualbox 4.1.8? I had no success with vbslic. it's aborting with a message showing files missing. The windows toolkit works with v4.1.8 VBoxDD.dll but windows 7 is very unstable. Without PAE / NX no way to install. thanks & regards
Strange statement? Might not be MS fan, but Win7 is definitely the best OS they managed to come up with In fact I remember it hanging ONCE ever since I started using it (a couple of years ago) As to the tool not working... check that you have the file where expected... sebus
not a strange statement: the modified VBoxDD.dll causes the instability, switching back to the original file it's stable again, but no slic mod ; ) vbslic is not working good with 4.1.8, the tool doesn't seem to fit with the latest virtualbox release ... If I use the default settings from virtualbox for windows 7 - without PAE/NX set - it's impossible to install, windows shows 'changed hardware' while booting from iso.
Hi Folks First of all, landmark, sorry for my late answer, but I was talking about ubuntu builds; atm I don't have a Mac to build and test VBox. Second, the excel patcher will not work with next vbox version; there are some changes in DevACPI that invalidate the known pattern Third, afaics, some of the changes are to implement a "custom ACPI table" named "SLICTable"... so the patch will be history
