I was having the same problem. The vbox file states at the top that when the vm gets shutdown it will just overwrite any changes. It also mentions using vboxmanage to edit that file. I managed to get it to work with this command VBoxManage.exe setextradata global VBoxInternal/Devices/acpi/0/Config/SLICTable <path to SLIC.BIN> Give it a try!
Hi I've done exactly what is described in the previous posts, it seems to be accepted by virtualbox ... but do I have to make anything more to activate Win 7 ? Because when I start win 7, it keeps telling me that windows is not genuine blahblah as soon as I log in. Bye Orvis
Mmmh OK thanks Urie. That confirms what I thought, and I was using a tool that is dedicated to that (this one : htttp://img405.imageshack.us/img405/7181/win7acthl13.png) ... but it seems that I'm doing it wrong. I used a Lenovo SLIC in the config file of Vbox, I used the tool with Lenovo certificate and product key, I tested different emulation ... but no way Bye Orvis
And this is where you are totally wrong. You do NOT install some sort of loader over the slic edit As urie said, just install cert & key & NOTHING else!
The patch was working in Virtualbox prior to version 4.2.6. However, after upgrading I'm getting the activation prompt again. Is there a patch for v4.2.6?
SLIC patch or XP Mode patch?? SLIC patch is obsolete now & you have to re-apply XP Mode patch after upgrading.
XP Mode patch. I'd like XP Mode to work in Virtualbox v4.2.6. Where can I get the patch? The one I had for v4.1.6 does not fix the issue. When I run the .exe it find the VBoxDD2.dll file but then states that nothing was patched.
Thanks for the help! I do appreciate it. The manual method doesn't seem to work. I cannot locate the hex string 0x08A20 in the dll. How do I edit the DMI? I also tried VBox XPMode x86 patch.exe, but that returned an error. Is there a patched x86 VBoxDD2.dll I can get?
Thanks for the help! I don't know how to use a hex editor, but I tried to edit per the "fix" and Windows still asks to be activated. Not much of a fix... back to VMware.
Patch file for XPMode Vbox 4.2.6-82870 VBoxDD2.dll 32bit - just point it to your VBoxDD2.dll View attachment 20316 If someone can upload or send me a 64bit version of the VboxDD2.dll file i`ll upload a 64bit patch to test as well as a pre-patched vboxDD2.dll x64.
Amiga, you are awesome! Thank you so much for providing a patch!! You saved me hours of work having to rebuild a VM. Thanks again!
Thankyou for the 64bit dll Sope, below are the patch and dll. Patch file for XPMode Vbox 4.2.6-82870 VBoxDD2.dll 64bit - just point it to your VBoxDD2.dll View attachment 20332 if patch doesn`t work for you then heres the already edited x64 VBoxDD2.dll View attachment 20333
Hi Amiga, thanks for the patch, much appreciated! As with the last time you uploaded an x64 patch, it didn't work for me as the tick box for "patch this file" never became active (along with the "start" button), no matter where the file was located or whether the patch was run as admin or not (under Win 7 x64)? The pre-patched VBoxDD2.dll you uploaded works fine for me though, so thanks again for that .
Has anyone tried the pcbios.bin patch with XP Mode? I read on some person's post about inserting the BIOS file from VMLite to activate XP Mode the same way as SLIC activation. I can't post the link to the BIOS file since I do not have a high enough post count. But, here is the command to be entered from a command prompt: Code: VBoxMange.exe setextradata vm-uuid VBoxInternal/Devices/pcbios/0/Config/BiosRom "c:\vm\pcbios.bin" What would be some drawbacks to using this method?
