I'm not offended, the opposite, i like what your doing and just want to make clear by using setextradata it doesn't activate, right?.... EG meaning: All i tried to make clear is that particular oembios doesn't preactivate with SLP sting in DMI area.
You are absoulutely right, by posting that information I mean that there is no way someone can activate using Microsoft's oembios fileset. The range does not contain DMI address range.
As I am trying to find an easy way to add SLIC to VBox, I am putting some facts that I understood thru my tests, so that if I failed someone else can focus on what I think is important. It's aimed at giving some insights as well.
Thanks for your continues support of your VBox patches, I appreciate it as I use VBox all the time @home and @work
@atreyu I usually use VPC, but thought I'd give Virtualbox a try. Your patch worked great Thanks. @FreeStyler I tried your Hex edit trick too. I can confirm it works on 32bit version.
Pardon my ignorance, but I've read the whole thread twice now and I'm still puzzled. For SLIC, I use the vbslic.exe tool to insert whichever slic I want to VB. Good I got that covered. For SLP, what is the method that activates XP with a certain set of OEMBIOS files? I see posts about strings being too long, not each oembios set working, etc etc. Can somebody please give me 2 hints: 1) what patch/edit to apply to VB/VM for it to have a certain SLP 2) which oembios sets I can use Many thanks! Edit: VB version I'm planning to use: 4.0.4
Tremendous effort here. I have been following the progress for a while. Thanks to all who helped in the process, FreeStyler, Sebus and others good work Atreyu. Another path to making testing and development a little bit easier.
Trying to figure out how to activate my XP. Got XP installed on VirtualBox which is running on Windows 7 (Dell). Could I activate it somehow? thanks
